Yeti Clone- Mash Tun size and Mash Temp

I'm planning on making a yeti clone scaled up to 10 gallons... i've never done a 10 gallon brew or brewed a stout. Here's a link to the recipe: http://beersmithrecipes.com/viewrecipe/12542/yeti-clone-ver-20 I've got 2 questions: since this will be roughly 40 pounds or grain, will it...

    Aging a stout

I'm planning on brewing a Yeti clone imperial Russian stout soon to be ready by the fall. I've never brewed a stout but I've always heard they need to age several months. What's the best way of aging? In bottles or in a keg? Or some other container like a glass carboy? Also is it best to age at...

Adding Peaches to a Wheat Beer

I went to a beer fest over this past weekend and one of the beers I liked was a Peach Wheat Beer by RJ Rockers... I think the name was Son of a Peach. Anyways, I brewed a 5 gallon batch of Bell's Oberon Clone (wheat beer) last weekend. I was thinking I could siphon off 1 gallon and add peaches...

    Bell's yeast for Oberon Clone

I'm brewing a Bell's Oberon clone this Sunday. My recipe says the OG should be 1.070 and I'm doing a 5 gallon batch. I've got a 6 pack of Bell's Amber Ale I'm collecting yeast from. What's the proper way of getting the most yeast needed for this recipe? I don't want to wait too late if I need to...

My version of Push Eject's Brew Stand

I've still got a ways to go... adding wheels, burners, plumbing, etc... but at least I have the base done. I couldn't believe how long it took to weld each joint an then grind it smooth afterwards. But I'm happy with how it turned out. I've never welded before and always had a little fear about...

Recipe with Flaked Wheat and Pilsner

At our last Home Brew meeting they had a drawing and a buddy of mine won about 2.25 pounds of flaked wheat and 3.75 of pilsner malt. He gave the ingredients to me. I'm curious if there are any good recipes that would take both. Any suggestions?

    Airlock Overflow

has anyone tried this: http://gluttoncooking.blogspot.com/2013/01/harvesting-yeast-from-blowoff.html seems like it would take care of 3 issues... plenty of place for the foam to blow; a good way of getting yeast for a starter and prevents the blow off liquid from being sucked back into the...
