My New Monster Mill MM2-Pro/AAW Motor Project is Complete

So, after waiting for a long time to get my AAW motor, I finally was able to finish my new grain mill project using the Monster Mill MM2-Pro with hardened rollers and 1/2" keyed shaft mated to the AAW motor with Lovejoy couplers. I used a DPDT switch to allow reverse direction in case I ever...

Wiring help needed for AAW motor

I'm not so sure. Wires 1,3 are always on hot and wires 2,4 are always on neutral. Wires 5 and 6 switch between hot and neutral depending on direction. I don't see how to accomplish this with a center-off DPDT switch. See my schematic for the wiring I used.

Wiring help needed for AAW motor

Okay, I think I have it figured out after talking to AAW. The wiring diagram on the motor is correct and I need the low volt option for 110 V. The diagram shows the rotation direction on the bottom. For CCW direction, wire the hot (thru a SPST switch) to wires 1, 3, 5 and neutral to wires 2, 4...

Wiring help needed for AAW motor

I got my All American Ale Works motor last night and I'm a little confused on how to wire it. The diagram on the motor doesn't agree with the website wiring diagram. There are only 4 wire shown on the website wiring diagram, but the label on the motor shows 6! See pics. Can anyone help?

Anyone else still waiting for their AAW motors?

Got the motor last night and it seems like a beast. Now, to install it.

Anyone else still waiting for their AAW motors?

No, I don't plan on placing my scale on it, just the motor and mill. I went head and built my cabinet with these dimensions. We'll see.... My motor is due to arrive tomorrow!!! Finally! :ban:

    Homemade PBW Recipe

Yes, I followed this recipe of 7 parts Oxi-Clean and 3 parts TSP/90 and it rocks! I haven't tried it with the detergent, but it doesn't seem to need it.

    My Homemade PBW Rocks!

I've been using commercially made PBW for years for cleaning my carboys, but I always found it too expensive to use for cleaning brew kettles, mash tuns, etc. Slowly both my brew kettle and mash tun were getting darker and darker brown. I don't think it was beerstone, but just burnt wort that...

So how long have you been brewing?

I started brewing in the mid to late 80's. Only extract then. I stopped for a while while raising kids. Restarted with all grain and have been busy ever since.

How long will something last in a keg

I may be late to the party, but I keep some beer in my kegs for 5-6 months or more and they are fine. One thing though, I keep my kegs cold and pressurized.

Anyone else still waiting for their AAW motors?

beergolf, I plan on making the top 27" X 16". Do you think is a good size to fit the mill and motor? Also, where did you get those grain storage bins?

Anyone else still waiting for their AAW motors?

Yes, it might have. I guess they source their motors from China (like everyone). As far as the Pro 2 or Pro 3, I couldn't see any real advantage. So, I stuck with the Pro 2. I did spend the extra to get the 1/2" keyed shaft and hardened rollers to make the connection to the motor more solid.

Anyone else still waiting for their AAW motors?

I'm holding off building a cabinet for this waiting until this motor is in my hand. But, I'd like to continue. Can you measure the length of the motor with and without the shaft for me? Thanks!

Anyone else still waiting for their AAW motors?

I placed an order with All American Ale Works to mate with my new MM2-Pro mill about a month ago and I'm still waiting for it. Apparently the shipment got stuck in Customs and then there was a problem with shipping. I'm hoping to get this motor soon. Is anyone else still waiting for their motors...

    Problem with new Riptide Pump

I was thinking of replacing my Chugger pumps in my HERMS brewstand with the Riptide pumps, but after seeing all these issues I think I'll stay with my Chuggers. Yes, they are a little noisy and a bit of a pain to disassemble for cleaning, but THEY WORK. I've done at least 20 batches with them...

    MM-2Pro vs MillMaster mills

I have a set of plans drawn up, but I'm holding off on construction until the motor arrives just in case the dimensions are off. I'm a veteran woodworker so building this should be quick and fun. I plan on using 1/2 sheet of Birch plywood for most of it. I can post plans and pics when done.

    MM-2Pro vs MillMaster mills

I ordered the motor with the "package". It includes the Lovejoy couplers. You just need to specify the mill size shaft requirements. Since I ordered the MM2-Pro, I got the 1/2" keyed shaft option. Unfortunately, the 1/2" keyed shaft only comes with the hardened rollers which costs a lot more...

    MM-2Pro vs MillMaster mills

So, I pulled the trigger on the MM2-Pro with hardened rollers and 1/2" keyed shaft drive. A bit pricey, but I'll cry once. I've had this for over a week now. And I ordered the All American Ale Works motor at 180 RPM. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for it. Apparently the shipment from...

Home Depot bucket used by LHBS for weighing grain

Sadly, I've checked 3-4 local Lowe's stores and none of them have them.

Home Depot bucket used by LHBS for weighing grain

I'm looking for another bucket to place under my grain mill to hold the freshly milled grains. I started looking for a food safe one, when I noticed that my LHBS uses a Home Depot bucket that is definitely NOT food grade. So, now I'm wondering if I really need a food grade bucket to just...
