    Best brews!

My best beer so far is my most recent pale ale attempt. I had changed up how I did my sparge thanks to all the info on HBT. The only "problem" I had was that I hit an 83% eff. when I was planning for something between 70-75%, my ABV ended up being 6.66% according to Beersmith. Tasty and very...

    What's You're Highest ABV?

Nice. What kind of yeast did you use? Did you have to/ choose to do anything to keep the yeast going, aside from lots of aeration and proper ferm temps?

    What's You're Highest ABV?

So I've been kicking around the idea of making a big beer, probably a barleywine. I'm just wondering what are some of the highest ABV's you have personally made? How did they taste? How long to condition?

    Filthy A$$ Customers!!!

Some people are just straight up filthy and don't care what anyone thinks. As a cable installer I had to go into some horrible houses (and underneath). Some houses I had to walk very carefully or I would step in a hairball. I've seen dust on peoples TV that was at least 1/4" thick, no kidding. I...

    Top 10 Fall Beers

Although I haven't had all the beers on that list. I gotta say that Jubelale should be in there. I always look forward to that beer come fall time.

Bridgeport Hop Czar - all gushers!!!

Love the beer, one of Bridgeports best IMO. I've never had a gusher from them but about a year ago I bought a six pack Laughing Dog and they were all gushers. The first one made quite a mess on my buddies kitchen floor.

    worst beer you ever made

My second all grain batch. A hefe with orange peel and some other spice added in the boil. Tasted absolutely horrible. I don't think anybody ever drank a full bottle, usually just one or two drinks and down the drain it went. Kept it around for a few months before deciding it wasn't going to get...

Intro and a Question on longterm value of kits

That kit would get you rockin' no sweat. All those things will also be good for AG batches. If you plant on having a couple batches going at all times another carboy or two would really help, that way you will have secondary fermenter if you choose to bulk age or dry hop anything. If and when...

Spending more time on here than I probably should

I'm in the same situation, just lost my job so now all I do is read threads on HBT and troll craigslist for kegging equipment. But sitting at the computer while watching TV and drinking good beer with a pug in your lap is way better than crawling under someones filthy mobile home.

    WLP 300 question

I made a Dunkelweizen with this yeast last winter and my house stays VERY cool during winter months so my ale ferments are usually in the low to mid acceptable temperature range. That said, I loved this yeast. Aside from some poor racking on my part (had some pretty sizable chunks of yeast/trub...

    Any Perlick Retailers In Oregon

This is a question for my fellow Oregon brewers. Is there a store that sell Perlick faucets in Portland, Eugene or anywhere in between? I'm never too crazy about buying things online because I hate to wait or pay an arm and a leg to get it sooner. So, any actual stores/shops I can go to?

    Perlick 425 v 525 Faucets

I was liking the looks of the 425's better as well. The fridge is being delivered by a friend Friday so now I have to try to get all equipment together in the next couple days so I can get it together. Also, are there any small parts that a kegging newb such as myself would likely forget/not...

    Perlick 425 v 525 Faucets

I have decided to finally build a kegerator and have been shopping around for parts. From what I've read about faucets the Perlicks are where its at, but what I'm not sure of is the difference between the 425's and the 525's. And what about the creamer function on some is this a cool feature or...

    Building a Mash Tun

I have a 5gal coleman MLT (the kind that comes with a spout), and a coleman Xtreme, like 56qts or there abouts. Both have copper manifolds. I didn't realize the manifold was more for fly sparging than batch at the time but now I have the option to fly sparge in the future at least. Anyway, for...

    favourite urban myths

I worked with a guy once that claimed Johnny Cochran almost represented his brother for some stupid crime like theft and that he backed out at the last minute so his brother is now doing time. This coming from a guy in his mid-twenties with no front teeth and works graveyard clean up at a...

Thinking about moving to Washington...Pros & Cons?

Yeah, its not torrential most of the time but it does rain a lot, maybe a better description would be very often. As far as golf goes, get some good raingear and a good pair of shoes and go play. Its actually a bit more of a challenge I think because it is so much easier to hit a fat shot on...

Thinking about moving to Washington...Pros & Cons?

Western Washington/Oregon = Rain. I've lived in western Oregon since I was eight and the summers are great as others have said. I am also an avid golfer but if you aren't prepared to play in the rain don't expect to play much during fall/winter(especially)/spring. I do feel you though on getting...

    What should I drink?

I like the mead idea or maybe a well aged barleywine to sip on.
