    NB's Rye Malt Extract

Really looking forward to their RyePa, The Wry Smile looks good too. I'd better get to drinking !

    First beer explosion :)

I've read about it, but never understood how it could happen. I've brewed over 40 beers I'd say in the past 6-7 years. Brewed a NB Super Alt and their Chinook IPA yesterday. I've been brewing with mostly SF-05 lately. Kind of got complacent with the amount of Krausen it produces. 1-2" tops...

    Northern Brewer Imperial Stout

Drinking a glass of this as I type this. Very good stout. I usually prefer the boozier Russian imperial versions. Old Rasputin, Bourbon County etc.. But really like this. FYI.. I brewed it back in May. Was saving it for winter but the blazing hot July temps caused me to not brew squat and...

    yeast starter size

I have only every pitched SF-05 for IPA's and the Wyeast liquid packs for others. I've never had a brew not be bubbling out of the carboy in ~5 hours. At the very least 8 hours. All come out right as expected too. Have a belgian Trippel with the wyeast High gravity yeast from NB going...

    Can't get a "pipeline" started.

I had my pipeline built.. Brewed a few big beers to be stored till winter while 3 IPA's and a Wheat were being consumed in the fridge. 95+ degree temps with 85% humidity for nearly a month destroyed it. No way was I brewing in the garage with that heat. Went on a rampage and bought a few...

Stockpiling for winter - Aging question in Kegs

Basically just putting them on the CO2 so the keg seals up good and proper. I purge them with CO2 first to get rid of the O2. I guess I was afraid that getting the beer cold then warming it up again would make more of an issue than letting them sit un-carbed?

Stockpiling for winter - Aging question in Kegs

I've been stocking up for winter by brewing a few bigger beers that need to condition till winter. Russian Imperial Stout, Bourbon Porter English Barleywine Belgian Triple I've been brewing them, letting them sit in the primary for a good month, then racking to the Corny Keg...

Adding LME at different times during the boil

On the same token, I let my wort chiller sit in the starsan solution and put it in the boiling wort 10 minutes till end to make certain it's not going to be adding any nasties to the beer. This makes adding wort at the end a bit trickier. Maybe not necesary since i'm already sanitizing it with...

    "Lawnmower beer" question for everyone...

I brewed a batch of NBrewer's Patersbier and have been drinking that on hot days. Ok.. And cold ones, and at night :-P Very good beer if you like belgian yeast flavors. My wife said it tastes like Grain Belt Premium to her. I told her she's crazy but you get the picture on the flavor profile.

How many gallons of homebrew in 2011?

DOH! Forgot the Brewers Best "Falconer's Flight". That sucker only lasted a couple weeks. 18320

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

20,120 +5 = 20,125 What the heck, the basement has 2 carboys going hot-n-heavy with IPA already. Might as well stink it up with some wine :)

What's your favorite fall time beer?

Love Russian Imperial stout, Big IPA's are some of my favorites, but Maredsous 10 from Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat is my all time favorite. This is the beer that got me into drinking good beer ~10 years ago. I need to try brew a clone of that

    NB Patersbier...fantastic!

Tapped into the Patersbier last night. I couldn't wait for the 2 weeks to secondary in the keg. Coincidentally my head now hurts. Fan friggin tastic!! Love this stuff. Brewed this and the American Wheat which are by far my lowest ABV beers so far and am extremely happy. Ordereing up another...

    NB Patersbier...fantastic!

Awesome news. I'm 1.5 weeks in on my primary of my Patersbier kit. Can't wait till I can enjoy it. I'm going straight from my primary to my Keg to secondary in there for a couple weeks.

    I hate sediment!

I used to have the same issue, as well as the pain in wasting the last 1/2 oz so you didn't get the sediment in the glass. I've since switched to Kegs. Makes brewing beer 100x more enjoyable and significantly less work. The first glass or 2 will have sediment after it's been carbonating in...

    Excessive Trub, just curious

Perfect, I figured it had to be something with the oatmeal. Can't wait to try this one. We've got a few good months of bone numbing cold up here yet! :) Thanks Fellas!

    Excessive Trub, just curious

I've been brewing off/on for the past 6 years. Bottling has turned me off for a while but I bit the bullet and picked up some kegs and a keg setup. Guns Blazin now :) Have 3 batches brewed now, all Midwest Supply kits. A Hop head Double IPA, Imperial Stout (in the keg and hidden from my view...
