    licorice root?

Had to check my notes, edited my post above. 2.5 oz of Anise for 30 minutes (left in the boil). I would not do it in the mash tun. this is for a 5 gallon batch.

    licorice root?

my licorice stout, 2.5 oz at 30 minutes, then STRAIN it out turned out perfect. you knew it was there, you knew what it was, but it was in no way overpowering. Strain it out, I used chips as well, and strained it out so none got in the fermenter, as it will continue to add flavor.

    Brewers best?

Brewers best kits are decent. A few are excellent (their imperial blonde is a great kit) northern brewer has good kits AIH has good kits Williams brewer has good kits Right now, since you are doing extract, it's good practice to pop out a few kits to get your process down, just figure out what...

    Gotta sanitize the Skittles?

No, it has not been given. pm me your address Did not see other people have done this until after it was brewed. I used different everything, and only 1 color. thinking now of doing 1 gallon of each color to compare. it's the same wort, golden promise and wheat (50/50) and .5 mL of...

    Small All Grain Setup

All good advice above. I personally would not go with a 5 gallon mashtun, as that really does limit you if you want to go with a large grain bill. I use a cooler, brew bag and aliexpress stainless steel valve and weldless bulkhead (all in for under $100.00) + 8 gallon kettle (recommend a 10)...

    Gotta sanitize the Skittles?

This Turned out very well. Tast tested by 10+ people and it was a very interesting beer. It's something special, that's for sure. The sour apple came through, it's almost like a sour beer. It's strong, and a decent summer slammer. Light and clear in color. I am shocked. now to dry and...

Moving to extract from all grain

I have brewed countless batches on my glass stove top. 7.5 gallons boiling in 42 minutes or less. clearly not super fast, but have to cut power down to 8.5 to keep a nice rolling boil.

How many on/off cycles per hour is harmful to my fermenting freezer?

You should not have it set up to measure the air temp, it should either be attached to your fermenter, or if using it as a kegerator, dipped in a bottle of water/alcohol, etc.

    What are you drinking now?

Maybe a little bit past its prime. But .. even when fresh it's nowhere as good as Capital breweries octoberfest... Makes no sense without the picture that did not attach. It was left hand brewing Oktoberfest..

    InkBird temperature controller stuck on

I used a rib so there is almost no amperage going through my stc 1000 (inkbird version). The rib takes the the load, rated to 20 amps. (GFI on it is rated for 15)

    How old is this bottle?

pre 2011, I THINK in 2011 Well's & Young bought em, and I THINK they switched to cans. so somewhere between 2004 and 2011. I am not sure if they are just doing limited runs of bottles or not. which is possible.

    Gotta sanitize the Skittles?

Okay, Bottled, took a sample, did not even bother with a hydrometer. it tastes, well, it's interesting, skittle flavor did not really come through, I went Mr Beer on this one, since I used the ferementer from a mr beer, I have 7 1 liter mr beer bottles (and used 2 carb drops each). at...
