    A simple digital Taplist solution

Has anyone tried this on a Firestick? I downloaded the Firefox app and was able to get into the site but the edges were cut off and I wasn't able to scroll in the settings. What's a cheap option to have this taplist on a TV in my basement?

My bitter went away, is this preventable?

Most likely oxygen added during bottling.

    Distilled water PH

Water pH isn't important for mash pH. Enter the other information and you will be fine. If it requires a pH, use 7

    First Dunkel

My favorite dunkel recipe uses mostly barke munich with some pilsner and a touch of carafa 2 but I also use sinamar for added color. The barke munich will give you most of the malt flavor you want. Carafa 2 will give you good color and some roast

    Marzen - First attempt

I agree with what others are saying about the complicated grain bill. 70/30 munich/pils is a good start for a marzen. I'll add a few things... 1) Don't use any late hop additions. Well you can if you want but it will be more American than German. German versions only use a bittering...

    lager brewing

If someone can cold crash, why not just use an actual lager strain and ferment cold like you should with a lager?

    lowering post boil pH

I lower my boil pH to 5.1 with 10 minutes left in the boil. Some fining agents work better at the lower pH.

My beers are all a little darker than intended... is it possibly the boil?

A strong boil will definitely darken the beer. At what point in the process do you notice the beer to be darker? Post boil, post fermentation, after packaging? What is your boil off rate?

    Attempting a novice Kolsch

You don't want anything fruity (like esters) in a kolsch. My ideal kolsch is very clean with a slight white grape hint. Definitely not the fermoale. S-04 can produce a clean beer but it won't give you that white grape/wine flavor a kolsch should have.

    Attempting a novice Kolsch

    1) Out of those three, S-04 would probably be the only one you would want to use but even that won't get you a kolsch like beer. 2) Lager bottling works fine 3) 100% pilsner should be ok. Not a typical German kolsch grain bill but it should still be good 4) IMO, drop the late hop addition...

    Tap connected while carbonating

No really difference between that and not cleaning a regular tap after each use (which I don't think anyone does). I do spray StarSan in any tap I use at the end of the night to help flush the opening of the tap a little. You could do that with your picnic tap too.

Brulosophy expert can't tell a Blonde Ale made with straight RO from RO plus minerals

Sure, people can use critical thinking skills but if they keep reading that Bru is a good source of info, why would they believe any different? You obviously like their info, and that is fine for you. I (as well as a lot of others) feel they are giving bad misdirected information on cutting...

Brulosophy expert can't tell a Blonde Ale made with straight RO from RO plus minerals

This statement doesn't make sense to me. Are you expecting brand new home brewers to realize Bru is using sub par testing practices and the shortcut methods they are testing is not the way to make good beer?

Brulosophy expert can't tell a Blonde Ale made with straight RO from RO plus minerals

This is my all time favorite Bru experiment (I'm not calling it a exbeeriment). They brewed a German leichtbier and asked their tasters to tell them what style it was. Most said kolsch with a handful saying some kind of pale lager. I'll give them those. To an uneducated blind palate, it can...

    Used kegs v new kegs

I've gone back and forth about this myself. Most of mine are regular cornelius but I have a few older firestones and john woods. I hate those. My OCD just wants to sell all my used and start buying new. Just have so many other, higher priority, brewing purchases I want to make first.
  16. h22lude

    Used kegs v new kegs

They both have their own pros and cons... New Pros: 1) Don't have to worry if it holds pressure 2) Don't have to worry what was in it before and it is was cleaned correctly 3) You know exactly what you are getting (there are a lot of older style kegs and parts aren't always interchangeable) 4)...

New pH probe reading 7.03 no matter what I'm testing

Not a fan of cheap meters. MW102 is one of the best for home brewers in the price range. I don't need a new meter. Just needed to replace the probe. Could happen with any meter that has a replaceable probe.

New pH probe reading 7.03 no matter what I'm testing

Probe is defective. I called Milwaukee and they are sending me a new one at no cost to me. Really good customer service.

[Version 2 Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

I've starting looking at doing a build, but I don't need anything special. Just want a taplist (no flow meters, no temp probe, etc). Will I still have to do what you posted above? Sounds like the raspberry pints website isn't up to date and will not work as is (with and without flow meters)...

New pH probe reading 7.03 no matter what I'm testing

Sorry for my ignorance but can you explain that to me? Am I supposed to touch the inner and outer contacts on the MW102 itself with no probe attached to see if it reports a similar number as if the probe were attached?
