    Properties of steam exhaust

Ok. Maybe I'll resort to turning down the heat, using ferm cap and dealing with 3-4% evap rate. Is it possible that excessive foaming in the kettle is reducing evap rate?

Can you explain further what you mean by feeding into a wye?

    Properties of steam exhaust

I have a tee installed just below the vertical stack to collect condensate. A cap with ferrule allows for condensate to go to trench drain. I am still experiencing lower than desired boil off rates. With the main access lid installed, boil over is an issue. My thoughts were the air intake would...

    Properties of steam exhaust

If a fairly large kettle say 40" diameter is completely sealed with the exception of a 6" vertical vent to roof (approx 15') would installing an adjustable port opposite end of the exhaust port assist with increasing the draft through the exhaust port? Does the cool air coming in assist the hot...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Could be but I figured a rolling boil would mitigate most stratification. Maybe I'm wrong but 10 degrees seems like a huge swing at boil. I'm at 80'. 211.9 boil temp.

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

HLT is 280gal working vol. I did recirculate while heating for strike but not at the time I realized the thermometer was off. It wasnt until I brought the HLT to a boil and realized it was reading 202 it was not recirculating at this time. I thought maybe my calibrations had been lost with an...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

My HLT was off 10deg last brewday and thus strike water was off. I calibrated the 3 wire pt100 a few months ago with slushy ice water and boiling per Pete's recommendation. What would cause such a large swing in a short period of time? It's on about 40' of shielded cable designed for RTDs, drain...

    PID SSR stuck

Put a new SSR and all is well!

    PID SSR stuck

It's getting stuck open in an open panel when it's 50deg outside. Not much usage either

    PID SSR stuck

I'm attempting to overcome cheap SSR and or overheat issues since it's mounted inside a small panel. I'd use a cheap PID if it can be quieted for use with contactor

    PID SSR stuck

I dont need the accuracy a PID/SSR provide but panel is already cut for a standard PID. Do you know of a thermostat with same form factor as a typical PID but built to suit contactor (without the rapid cycles SSRs use)?

    PID SSR stuck

I have a PID controlling cleaner temp in keg washer. SSR is showing off but is stuck open causing overheat issues. Even with the installed heat sink, my issue may be caused by excessive heat or poor SSR. I bought a 5 pack on Amazon and most of them show the same symptoms. Heatsink and SSR are...

    DIY coolbot mini heater

So simply Ohms law to solve for around 1 watt? Rather than stressing to get as close to 1 watt with parts laying around, is there an acceptable watt range here?

    DIY coolbot mini heater

I'm in the process of building my own coolbot to control walk in cooler AC unit. I need a heater that tricks the AC thermometer into thinking the room is warm. I see some guys using light bulbs but Id like to use something smaller and more professional, something like the heaters in 3d printers...
