    Monster MM2 or MM3?

Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the MM-3 with stainless rollers and 1/2" shaft. I figured its worth a few extra bucks if I never have to buy another mill.

    Monster MM2 or MM3?

I am looking at the monster mills as well and can't decide if I should spend a few extra bucks for the MM-3. I expect this to be the one and only mill I ever purchase, but I am not sure the third roller really does anything a two roller can't do.

    Electric vs. Propane Brewing

After reading some of the threads on using electric heating elements to brew, I was curious how electric brewing compares to using a propane burner, both in terms of time and money. So, I did some thermodynamics homework and this is what I discovered. Feel free to point out any flaws you see...

    Fermenting Ales in a Fridge?

Thanks. I have a controller, but wasn't sure if the fridge would be ok at those temps. I will keep an eye out for a cheap fridge and give it a shot. Lou

    Fermenting Ales in a Fridge?

Hey all, I usually brew hefeweizens and alts. However, my house is usually between 68 in the winter and 74 in the summer, which is a little too warm. In the past, I have used a cooler with ice bottles to keep temps down. However, I am thinking about getting a fridge to have better control...

About to Switch to AG, equipment ideas.

I agree that you only need a simple cooler mash tun. Your 7.5 gal kettle is big enough if you are super cautious about boil-overs. You can use just one burner to heat mash/sparge water and later boil. I say make a few AG recipes and see how you like the process. Expand later if you enjoy it.

    Glass carboys

Out of laziness, I use brew buckets for primary fermentation and a corny keg for secondary just cause they are easier to clean. My carboys just sit and collect dust. However, I used to use them for primary fermentation and remember picking them up, full of wort, while they are wet and somewhat...

my cfc is stopping me from brewing

When I first started doing all grain, I purchased a CFC. However, I plan on going back to an immersion chiller for a couple reasons. First, I can better control the temp of my wort by leaving it in my kettle longer and by using an ice bath. Second, immersion chillers seem easier to clean and...

Trying to go all grain ?

What type of beers do you plan on making? If you need to do any step mashing, a keg is easier to heat since you can just sit it on a burner. You can do step mashing in a cooler as well by adding hot water or using an electric heating element. I do single infusion mashes and batch sparge in...

another newb question on first AG

You can order an additional pound or so of base malt if you feel like your efficiency will be low. Likewise, additional base malt will raise the original gravity and subsequent alcohol content of the fermented beer. You might have to add a proportionate amount of the other grains so you don't...
