Thanks for the rundown. Eventually I may move to a unit like you have. The 220v version of 35L at least. I have no designs on going pro, and enjoy being able brew often, so the 35L suits me fine. I just upgraded the circuit board. It seemed like it may have heated faster, although I didn't time...

German Helles Exportbier Silver Medal 2016 Bluegrass Cup - Dortmunder Export

So, I brewed this yesterday. 10 lbs of pilsner malt, and 1 1/2 lbs Munich. I skipped the melanoiden. The OG was 1.054. So...close. I did step mashing on this one One thing I am wondering. I have been using Saflager 34/70 . This is the 3rd batch I will have used it. The first one tasted kind of...

German Pils Cat's **** "Bitburger" - Premium Pilsner

I'm wondering about this. Currently have a lager I kegged a couple of weeks ago using 34/70 that has a strange bubble gum kind of taste. I'm thinking to put it back into the fridge for a couple weeks and hope it cleans up.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I wanted to install solar panels last year. But, we have some big trees. A guy came out, put up his light meter, and said "don't bother". It was a dissappointment. I may get another opinion.

German Helles Exportbier Silver Medal 2016 Bluegrass Cup - Dortmunder Export

Thanks. I just had a 50lb bag of pale malt sitting there, so that’s what I used. If this turns out, I will go buy a 50lb bag of Pilsner. I have this Robobrew, and it’s easy to just program the steps in. So I’ll probably do step mashing again. If you are doing double decoction, are you still...

German Helles Exportbier Silver Medal 2016 Bluegrass Cup - Dortmunder Export

I have brewed this basic recipe a few times now, but using pale malt instead of Pilsner. I picked up 10lbs of Pilsner, and plan to try it again. Maybe this weekend. The batch I referenced above didn’t taste very good at the point I kegged it, and I was kinda worried. But it really changed after...

Do some research into PragerU. The position the video takes on this isn't the least bit surprising. I don't know about the other one.

Most recipes call for single infusion mash, and the raise to 170* at mashout. I assume it is because most brewers have setups which aren't programmable, it's easier, and it works. But we have this capability, and so I want to explore the possibilities.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

The Volt has 4 modes. Normal, Sport, Mountain, or Hold. Hold uses the engine and maintains current charge. Sport is fun, but uses more battery. Mountain builds charge if the batteries are depleted, but only up about 50%. The engine seems to run at a faster pace than it normally would. It...

I have done the same. But unless there are multiple steps, I find it just as easy to do it manually.

Do you guys do any step mashing? I normally use manual mode, set a mash temp, and then just bump it up when it comes time to boil. I have only used the automatic mode a few times. But now I’m starting to get into doing lagers, and want to use it more. It seems to me like the real power of these...

That’s one thing about using the top screen. It presents a barrier to stirring.

I have an expired beer kit, is it worth brewing?

Yes. Still sealed. I've been afraid to try it, but didn't want to throw it out either.

think this will beer? I'm guessing it's 25 years old.

I was really replying to @rjhoff . He seems to do large grain bills, and therefore need more capacity.

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

From all your posts, it sounds like you really need one of the 65L units. I'm normally doing 12lb or so grain bills, and the 35L unit handles it fine. I did do the Russian Imperial Stout recently, and that was 20lbs. Won't do that often.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

They were mostly used up from Volt sales. It’s based on EV sales for an entire company, not individual models. In lieu of that, Chevy is offering incentives which are about the same amount.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

That is correct. Chevy has used up all of their credits as of about March 2020. Even then they were reduced from the full credit.
