    Damnit... Help please

Totally normal, I get that sometimes when I use American Ale II with my IPAs. I was curious about that when I started, but saw it frequently enough that I kinda shrugged it off hahaha All of the batches that I noticed it on were fine and no off flavors or stability issues..that I perceived. To...

Should I use 3068 or 3638 for my Dunkelweiss?

Several people that tried it said they could pick up a hint of apple, but I didn't notice any specifically. It did have a mild tartness to it that went well with the black currant. Mine gave off quite a funky smell until it was conditioned for an extra 10 days. I had really thought I'd made a...

Should I use 3068 or 3638 for my Dunkelweiss?

I've used 3638 for my Black Currant Hibiscus Hefe, it really supported the fruit well with no banana. Though the banana could've been masked by my fruit addition..

    Stout Questions

No need to mill the Flaked Barley, it just goes right into the mash. People are all over the map as far as what they do with dark grains, but I usually either steep them or add them to the top of the mash during the sparge.

    Grapefruit questions

Hahaha Well fair enough! In that case, I'd do it after you've dry hopped. I'm still one of those folks that out of habit and pure stubbornness, still secondary about half of my brews. Sounds like a tasty brew, you should post a pic when it's done and let us know how it turned out!

    Grapefruit questions

Why wouldn't you just put the zest into the secondary when you're doing your dry hopping? That's the way I've usually done it...but perhaps I've missed something that will shortly be corrected by other posters :P

Will color change much (if any) during fermentation?

Glad it seems to be turning out for you! I've never had a brew change that dramatically in color, from post boil to finished brew...or maybe I just never really noticed... Either way, I'm glad the brew gods are shining upon you friend! Hahaha

    Brewing on a budget

Don't be scared of all grain! It really isn't as rough as it may seem. It'll definitely help you save a bit compared to $50 a week. I buy a $36 (50lb) bag of base malt every month, and generally any of your specialty malts will be pennies (comparatively). Batch I'm doing Saturday is gonna cost...

Your three favorite hops for an IPA

I'd have to go with either Centennial/Citra/Cascade or Magnum/Citra/Nelson Sauvin.

    IPA Recipe...Want OPINIONS!

Hmm, sounds interesting! I've never used Apollo or El Dorado before so it's tough to comment on it. :/ I always tend to lean on Centennial/Cascade/Citra for my IPAs. Though I've been playing around with some Nelson Sauvin these days with some great results! I'd like to hear how this turns out...

    Canadian Roll Call!!

Not doing too bad! Everything still costs too much, but it's a great place to be for great beer! Got setup in a rad spot in south van with an attached garage (now a brew dungeon).

Will color change much (if any) during fermentation?

I've had the exact same problem before myself. Sadly, it's not going to darken up for ya. I've never seen much color change in my fermenters. Especially with that style, what you're looking at post-boil is going to be pretty much what you're looking at going into your kegs. This "problem" was...

    All foam, flat beer

Hey Day_trippr, I like the carb calculator you linked me to but it doesn't have a time index. That does seem to be a bit of an on going thread issue though...haha

    All foam, flat beer

I am going to research those links pretty heavily during my new construction phase. My sincerest thanks to both of you! :D

    All foam, flat beer

Yes, I've used all of the equipment before. This keg held a stout perfectly before this. I plan to gut this old beast of a kegerator that got handed down to me and turn it into a stout tap (reworking all the line lengths/sizes etc). I'm building a new three tap kegerator for my main bar unit...

    All foam, flat beer

For the life of me I couldn't find the link you spoke of in the link you sent...to be fair, I do have one hand on the phone typing here and the other working away on the tap/in the kegerator haha I fear a bit of both may be true. I vented it completely, finished my (more or less flat) pint...

    All foam, flat beer

Very new here...So here's my issue. I have a kegerator that I've used for several years successfully. I had a co2 regulator that had zero ability to dial in (hand me down). Ended up finding a way to deal with that and would end up with well carbed beer that poured just fine. Now I have a new...
