Newer brewer wanting to exchange with seasoned vet

Hey all, I've been brewing since June and have 18 brews under my belt now. Curious to hear about a few things I think are wrong with my beers and how to solve them and see what other people are doing out there. Beers I have to exchange: Vanilla Porter Coffee Brown Ale American Pale Wheat...

    Rate this restaurant beer menu.

I don't know whether you created this list or are just doing a survey type study, but this list would make me say "Can I have a water, please?" The only thing I would probably drink on that list is Chimay, but that stuff is usually $10-15 at restaraunts so I don't bother. No offense. I give...

    Fermentation Showdown: US-05 vs Nottie

I made a stout recently with Nottingham...my goodness...both carboys blew off a TON of beer...never seen such fermentation.

    #1 Beer City in America...

I don't know of anywhere else in the country where you can get Sculpin, Angel's Share, Older Viscosity, Pliny the Younger, Pliny the Elder, etc all on draft at the same place. Hell you can even buy sixtels of AS and OerV at the distributors. Philly has huge support from a ton of breweries, so...

    Nottingham Yeast

While those packs that were recalled did take a while to start, I have to report all of my beers were fine and the new packs are working well as well.

    #1 Beer City in America...

I think Philly beats NYC by far, but that's just me...can't speak for any of the others.

Safbrew # T-58 anybody have experiences w/ this yeast

I use it in a Belgian Pale Ale (Russian River Redemption clone) and it comes out nice and estery. It is by far the favorite beer of all the people who try my beers. My brother can't keep this stuff on his kegerator either it goes so fast.

    Pecan Brown Experiment

Well, people always say fakeness will be intensified, so I think imitation was a mistake. Additionally, 4 oz is probably wayyyyyyy too much. You should've tasted after adding small increments. Thanks for biting the bullet on that one so to speak though.

    Obsidian Stout Clone

The recipe posted above is not wholly correct. I hope whoever wants to make this reads this post and realize that the recipe called for Black patent and NOT black barley.

    Grapes in Beer?

Midas touch has grapes in it. I suppose Raison D'etre/D'extra sort of qualify for this as well.

    Going vegetarian for 30 days?

Yeah, this isn't going to work unless you open up to different things. I don't understand why you're so against all of these vegetables. Grow to like and love them. That sounds like a better goal to set then anything else first.

    Cursing the Growler

Why not get "German growlers." I can't imagine them going flat as they seal like Grolsch bottles.

    Brewmasters Warehouse

Hey Ed, You're my go to guy for everything that I've bought for my homebrewing. Great service and product. Do you carry Black barley? I can't seem to find it...is it under another named?

    7 Gallon Wooden Barrells Ny

I bought one of these. It's a bourbon barrel...the guy seemed really nice and answered all the questions I sent via ebay messaging. The barrel was somewhat expensive, but hopefully it'll be worth it in the long run as I split it with my friends. The only complain I saw was on ebay that the...

Will Floating Fruit Interrupt My Pellicle?

Well, I guess time will tell...I was just hoping for a clear indication that infection was successful. Thanks anyway!

Will Floating Fruit Interrupt My Pellicle?

So I made a Belgian pale that I racked onto a fair amount of peaches that I had pureed. Half of the peaches remained on the bottom and the other half floated up to the top of my beer. I pitched the dregs of a Cuvee Rene, but will the floating fruit inhibit my pellicle from forming because the...
