New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

So I plan on brewing one next week and decided to try an ultra low calcium water profile this time. My water profile looks like this (I use Bru'n Water supporter version for my calculations): Calcium - 20ppm Magnesium - 13ppm Sodium - 84ppm Sulfate - 98ppm Choloride - 250ppm pH - 5.29 (with...

I'm on the fence as well. I think a thread for reporting what people thought of specific hops from a specific year from a specific place would be extremely helpful to gauge if jumping on something like this would be beneficial.

Newest IPA that I kegged yesterday. 70% 2Row, 20% Spelt, 10% Oat Malt. Really excited for this one to carb up.

Brewing tomorrow with Belma and a kiss of Vic Secret. Using Cosmic Punch as my yeast. Hopefully after the long absence of Belma it still gives me that big strawberry note. *crosses fingers*

What did your whirlpool look like? 1318 will drop crystal clear unless it has some hop oils to interact with during fermentation.

Just kegged this tonight. Jumped on the Spelt and Cosmic Punch wagon. Dry hopped with Citra with a tad of Idaho 7. Zero green bitterness. Finished at 1.016 from an OG of 1.068, so 75% attenuation. Straight citrus and tropical aroma and flavor. Can't wait to get this one carbed up.

Well this is disappointing to hear. I have 2021 Citra and Idaho 7 coming and plan on doing a Citra with Idaho 7 kicker next week.

I'm planning on brewing something up once some grain gets here. Going to use Dgallo's 2Row, Spelt, and Honey Malt grain bill. I got a new shipment of hops in. Trying to figure out what a good combo would be. I have 2021 Galaxy, Rakua, and Vic Secret. Also have Citra and El Dorado LupoMax...

I haven't had a good batch of Galaxy since 2016. I always buy from YVH and have noticed the super tropical flavors and aromas I would usually get have turned into a more earthy and muted flavor and aroma profile.

What size Fermonster is that? If that's 3 gallons of wort in there and it's over the halfway mark, that would make it a 5G Fermonster. Only problem is that they don't make a 5G version. I really wish they did for the 2.5G to 3G batch brewers.

If you brew with a certain yeast every time, you can take your attenuation numbers and average them out and punch them in your brew software for what the yeast does and adjust your recipe from there. Ever since I did that, I'm able to hit my FG numbers within a point every time. For the...

Other Half Daydream (oat cream IPAs) - all grain clone attempts

The only real things I got out of what he said was that he uses a crap ton of hops and you don't need a week long dry hop to extract great flavor.

Got a shipment of Citra and Mosaic hops from Bell's. Used them today in the whirlpool. I brew 3 gallon batches and added 3oz. total of hops in the whirlpool. Breakdown was 2oz. Citra and 1oz. Mosaic. When I opened the bags, I was taken aback. I hadn't smelled hops so pungent in a long time...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I had my first Tree House back in early 2015 when they were still brewing out of Monson. Their flagships (Green, Julius, and Haze) were quite a bit better than they are now.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I doubt they were blending separate beers back in Monson. For me personally, the beers that came out of the small Monson brewery, were better than they are now. Especially Green and Julius.

Other Half Daydream (oat cream IPAs) - all grain clone attempts

Here's a sample I took while kegging today. 50% Brewer's 2-Row 25% Malted Oats 25% White Wheat Malt No lactose. OG of 1.071 and a FG of 1.020. 6.7% abv Hopped with all Citra. Big orange and citrus on the nose. Orange on the flavor along with some green. Mouthfeel was nice and full...

Other Half Daydream (oat cream IPAs) - all grain clone attempts

I only do 30 minute boils with my NEIPA's and haven't noticed anything different from a 60 minute boil.

I'll be brewing one in the coming days. Tentative name is Oats vs. Wheat. Grainbill is as follows: 50% Brewer's 2-Row 25% Malted Oats 25% White Wheat Yeast will be 1318. I brew 2.5G batches since it's just my wife and I who drink my homebrews. I have quantities of Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I did a 3 gallon batch and threw in 8oz. lactose. I'm using 1318. I account for quite a bit of trub so that was a non-issue for me. Only thing that's different than a regular NEIPA is that I have zero krausen, but it's chugging away. I'm guessing it's all the fat in the oats. Also, where...
