    home-built immersion wort chiller

Hmm, I'm going to try again with a bigger pot, and inquire some help from my dad. If its a work of art I'll post pictures, if it cools my wort I'll be satisfied. I believe I used the same wire, but I chose 3/8 inch for my surface area. That should've made mine even more sturdy though...

    home-built immersion wort chiller

OK. So I got antsy and did the build tonight. How can I say this, I'm not satisfied. Its just not as pretty as yours? How did you get the copper to be so tight around the pan, its like perfect. I'm going to keep working with it, but do you have any tips for getting the coil tighter? and is...

    home-built immersion wort chiller

What do you guys think, do you think it would be better to run the exit tube through the inside of the chiller instead of on the outside like in this build? I'm sure it doesn't matter, just seeing what the general consensus is. I feel like going through the internal the chiller could be closer...

    Harvesting bell's yeast. primero

Thanks a lot for your continued help. Seriously. I'm supposed to be continually shaking the jar right? By continually, I mean like every hour or so when I'm around.

    Harvesting bell's yeast. primero

Do you guys think this schedule is alright? Today's Thursday, put jar in fridge on Saturday night (3 full days), remove on Sunday, decant, make new 1L starter, leave on counter for 5 days, decant, make new 2 L starter, cold crash/store?

    Harvesting bell's yeast. primero

I actually used a spaghetti jar (My halfpint jars were too small) I washed with oxyclean and boiled for 20 minutes, but it still smelled SLIGHTLY like spaghetti. I'm assuming this is just like the beer smell on buckets, and won't be a problem. Ambient temperature is 68-70 in my house, and...

    Harvesting bell's yeast. primero

Awesome guys! You answered most of my main questions. Mostly, do I ferment on the counter (yes at first to ferment, then cold crash to separate)? Also, regarding the Oxyclean, I was using that as my first clean (followed a Youtube video), then I boiled the jars and equipment (which acted...

    Harvesting bell's yeast. primero

So my goal is to make a Bell's HopSlam clone, and in order to do that (and graduate in one sector of homebrewing), I want to harvest the Bell's strain of yeast from their Oberon Beer. I've seen in numerous places that this is the strain used for all of their ales. Basically, I'm just documenting...

    Harvesting "commercial" yeast; first time

Awesome, thanks. I rarely look anywhere but here, assuming I'm such a beginner that all my questions go here.

Brooklyn Brew Shop Everyday IPA Kit Tips

++++1 COULD NOT AGREE MORE. Further, this was also the first kit I bought. As others have said, ensure you let the primary sit long enough. I think I bottled according to the directions (after a week?) and all of my bottles would gush foam, leaving about 2/3 of a beer. Also, I would...

    Which Temperature controller unit???/

First off, I'd like to apologize, as I'm sure SOMEWHERE, there is a thread explaining this. Also, I've spent the better part of today looking at these threads. The fact is, I am clueless when it comes to electronics, and specifically these controllers. I've already purchased a chest freezer...

    Multiple fermentation chambers?

Hey guys, So I've been looking for a fermentation chamber, and started to think. Do you brewer's who like to have a consistent pipeline, brewing every couple or few weeks, have multiple fermentation chambers? Or do you just fit multiple buckets in one chamber. I'm just under the impression...
