Need an expert - hops & cantaloupes

Melons are very heavy feeders, so they might take some of the nutrients from the hops. If your soil is good enough then both should do well. Top Tip...Look after your soil and your plants will look after themselves.

    Seeking higher attenuation

I suggest you try dried Nottingham yeast. It will get down to 1.010 with no problems at all, even with your high SG

Friends went to Belgium, all I got was AWESOME

Beer is meant to be drunk, not looked at. Keep them at the correct serving temp for 24 hrs and enjoy. This might sound stupid but this is what I do when Im tasting quality beer. I go and buy a couple of bottles of bog-standard beer (Bud or Coors, if you are in the US).open a couple and drink...

What are beer laws and beer selection like where you're from?

The UK`s liscencing laws are now very relaxed since the 24hr laws was applied. Any place that serves alcohol can apply for a liscence (sp) to serve alcohol any time it wants. Gas stations, conveiniece stores, bars, clubs it all the same

    TruGreen Disaster

Dig them up now. Dont bother with washing them (if the weedkiller has got into the rhizome then theyre 4Q). Cut the rhizomes into small pieces and re-plant int pots of compost. They might survive, they might not. Find out what they sprayed with. F*****g Idiots. Re-reading your OP and taking...

Is this a good Mild recipe

I think the ABV is a little high, Id go for 3.5%. Maybe some torrified wheat for body and head retention. Bitterness levels are correct, but maybe use a English noble hop, but I think the main thing is your choice of yeast. Nottingham we brew out all the sugars resulting in quite a dry beer...

    Need help naming latest brew....

Please dont take offence, but dont refer to it as St. Pattys Day/ St Paddy`s Day or anything else. Its St Patrick`s Day, a lot of Irish take offence at this, especially here in Birmingham, UK.

    Clay heavy soil

What I would do is....Get hold of a 80li plastic dustbin. Dig a hole 12 inches deeper than the bin. Put 6 inches of 20mm grit into the bottom of the hole and place the bin in the hole (the bin will stand 6 inches above the ground level, this will make watering easier). Into the bottom of the bin...

    Clay heavy soil

    Beer in London

If you only go to one pub make sure its the Jerusalem Tavern. Contact the West London Branch of CAMRA and Im sure they will help you out. CAMRA is a top organisation, all members are nice people (Ive never met a bad one) and there is a good chance someone will accompany you on a tour if you ask.

    Beer in London

Diesel is made with blackcurrant juice, though a lot of pubs wont sell it. If you ask them nicely and show that your not a idiot drinker they will serve it to you. There are many combinations to making it but I find the best is .5 lager + .5 sweet cider and a shot of blackcurrant juice.

why does commercial beer just seem subpar when i brew?

Interesting post. Heres my story... Id always drank either premium lagers or Guinness in bars, until I got into HB. I then started to drink different types of real ale and traditional English beers, but none of them came even close to the quality of my brews, this is not being biased or...

Container Question: Do The Roots Decompose?

In spring, as the new shoots emerge wait till they get to about 4 inches high. Grab one of these shoots and with a sharp knife cut right down until it comes away from the parent plant. Into a 6 inch plastic pot add 50% compost and 50% fine grit or Vermiculite and put these cuttings at the very...

    Beers from England

Ask him to go into any of the large supermarkets (Tesco/Sainsbury) and get one of each, or pick out individual names. they all stock about 20/30 Britsh ales and a good selection of European and Worldwide beers. They cost about £1.80- £2.00 per bottle. It just depends on how many he wants to...

Container Question: Do The Roots Decompose?

Its easy to replant rhizomes into the ground if they have been growing in a trug. Just dig a whole wider than the trug and 18 inches deeper. Fill bottom of the hole with well rotted manure and dump the hole lot in. Try to keep them at the same surface level as growing in the trug. Back fill with...
