North East OHIO group grain buy

NP, put me down for two bags. One of Canadian 2 row(CM-2 ROW) and one for Canadian Pale Ale (CM-PALE). I may do another once I tally up what my fall brewing schedule looks like. I'll let you know.

    2011 Hop Garden Picture Thread

Did you stack the tiers or just do it as you have pictured? I will be picking a lot of cones this year so it would be slow-going if I had to do it one batch at a time. It would still be better than I did last year...

    2011 Hop Garden Picture Thread

How well does the dehydrator work to dry those out? I've got one in the attic that gets used one or twice a year when I make beef jerky. I may now have a another use for it!

Help - Jalapeño Blonde Ale, Mr Beer

I found that it gets hotter as it ages. Good thing it turned out. I am fermenting a gluten free beer that a friend wants me to add the peppers to. GF beer needs time to age so it should be pretty hot when I crack one open.

Help - Jalapeño Blonde Ale, Mr Beer

I made a blonde pepper beer with a blonde recipe and it took 2nd in its catagory in the HBT east cost competition. The one thing that I noted when it went to the national is that it got hotter as it aged. I used 4 sarano peppers in the secondary. I got dinged for how hot it was when it went to...

    Your 2011 Brewing Goals

I've never done the kits except one extract kit when I started out. I'm doing all grain batches but I follow (or modify) other peoples recipes. I'd like to create and brew a batch that I can call all mine. I bought a couple of books to help me do so. I'm just waiting to receive them so I can...

    First time re-using yeast cake

I had this happen a couple times. I take the airlock off and stick one end of a (sanitized) hose into the hole and the other end into a bucket (I use a growler) that is about a third full of sanitized water. Put the hose below the water level and let the batch blow into that. If you don't do...

    Brewing a BLOND....help.

Look in the recipe database for a blond. That should guide you enough to get it done.

    Extract Peanut Butter Stout

I'll look for it myself. I may just change it to a stout since a buddy of mine has been bugging me to make one anyway. More research...

    Extract Peanut Butter Stout

I may have to try this myself. I tried a peanutbutter Porter a while back using the powdered PB. The peanut butter didn't come through at all but needless to say, it was quite nutty!

    Sarano Blonde Pepper Beer

I agree, I think the peppers will come through either way. I was planning on bumping up the pale malt and vienna a bit plus maybe adding a little Munich. After reading my notes, I actually used my own hops in this beer but I think I'll stay with the same hops but adding a little more at the...

    Sarano Blonde Pepper Beer

Its already on my brew schedule to do what you mention. Now where did my notes go...;)

    Diacetyl

Can you post how it turns out from doing this? I have a batch that I have been lagering for a couple of week now. If my brew has the off flavor, I may try what your doing but I may have to take it up one level because I have already tacked into the secondary fermenter.

I want to taste all the mistakes!!!

That what I want from understanding the off flavors. Not necessarily to become a judge but so that I become better at making my own beer. As I mentioned earlier, I am supposed to help this weekend at the HBT competition and hopefully I can take advantage of it. Depending on what I'm doing (I'm...

I want to taste all the mistakes!!!

I agree...I guess that is one reason why I volunteered to help with the HBT competition next week. I want to learn what these off flavors are too.
