    Very quick ferment

So this past sunday I made a imperial stout. I pitched it on a cake of wyeast 1056. The OG was 1.096, I took a measurement tonight with my refractometer and with the corrected value it measured out at 1.011. The room temp it fermented in was about 66-70 based on time of day. Does this seem...

    looking for pump input!

A friend was looking at these and noticed they have bsp threads which he told me is not truly compatible with npt threads due to the various differences in the thread pitch and cut. With enough Teflon tape I'm sure they would be fine, but has anyone else noticed this?

Scotch bonnet and habeneros in beer

I recently made a Habanero IPA. I made a fairly standard batch of an American IPA, after I dry Hopped for 2 weeks, I split the batch in half and kegged it. I then took 2 fresh peppers, and diced them up a bit, soaked in about an oz of vodka overnight in the freezer (the idea was to rupture the...

    My 36 ft Herms coil...

Not sure how different it is, but when I was plumbing my reef tanks in the past, every 90 degree bend was 1ft of head pressure. Have you done a dry run with your pump connected, I'd hate to see it all welded in and not get any flow.

    Culture Vials

A few months ago I bought 15 or so of the giant plastic tubes also known as the baby soda bottles. They are nice but I was wanting a cheaper source.

Are stouts worth brewing if you dont have nitro?

I'm a huge stout fan along with my wife, so when I suggested a Nitro pour she asked how soon til we get it. I ordered a tank and reg from Beverage Elements, a faucet form Beverage Factory for under $200 I had everything delivered and the tank filled with the beer gas. Within a week we were...

    Adding jalapeño during bottling

So I was motivated by this thread to try a pepper beer, I was ready to keg an IPA so I pulled 2gal into a keg, and put 2 chopped habanero's in (after a soak overnight in vodka, it went in also) its been 48 hours, and I did a taste test. It has a strong burn, so I pulled the bag with the peppers...

    My new Toys arrived today

I plan to. Everything I read indicated to carb it around 50% of normal, and then put the beer gas on it for a few days prior to pouring.

    My new Toys arrived today

Wife just called to tell me FedEx just delivered my Stout Faucet, Regulator and Nitrogen Tank. Sending her to AirGas to get the 75/25 mix. Hopefully my Milkstout will be ready to Keg in the next few days so I can test out the new toys.

Attempting 40%+ ABV beer... "Barley Brandy"

Not sure how you plan to freeze concentrate it, but I saw in the thread at some point someone suggested using a corny then pushing the non-frozen liquid out with pressure. This past weekend I was playing around a bit, and tried that with a 10% Barleywine. As the Beer froze, it basically turned...

    Who's my Chicago homebrewers?

Just a follow up on this thread. Where do folks get their co2 tanks filled and is there a place to get a beer gas mix for a stout pour?
