What the hell is the difference between a porter and a stout?

I thought IPAs were overhopped to make the journey to India...regular Pale Ales would not have survived the trip.

What the hell is the difference between a porter and a stout?

Depends on how many drinks I've had. Too many drinks and it's easy to see double. :rolleyes:o_O

What the hell is the difference between a porter and a stout?

I spent a week in Ireland in 2003. Over the course of the trip I drove 1100 miles on the wrong side of the road and never had a "near hit", plus I frequented at least 3 pubs a day. :ghostly::rock:

    Spent Fruit Usages?

NO, I haven't. I'm not a real big fan of them.

How many gallons of cider 2019?

    You have about 3-4 more carboys than I do. 1319 + 43 = 1362

    Spent Fruit Usages?

A couple of years ago I made a Rumtopf. It's a bunch of different alcohols added to fruit covered in sugar and fruit, sugar, etc. You layer the fruit as they come into season. Then you age and rack it. In the end it looks, and drinks, like brandy. All the fruit was mush except for the...

    Used kegs

I'm live outside the Quad Cities, IL side. I'm only writing this since you are not far away from a seller I did business with. Many years ago I was on a business trip in Alabama. There was a guy selling kegs on eBay. I contacted him about them and told him my story about not being able to...

    Help!!

YIKES! I don't really have a clue. I mean, hoping the right wild yeast works for you is like shooting dice and hoping for a 13. If you have yeast on-hand you can always try, but why risk it? Did the apples cost much? If not, then why risk food poisoning just to save a few bucks...

    Hello from NJ

I left Jersey for the last time in 1987. What part of Tejas you are hoping for? My nephew just transferred to San Antonio recently. Just stay away from Houston...elevation is too low. LOL! I lived in Texarkana, TX for about 9 months while attending the Army School of Engineering and...

    Carbonation Question - Bottling

Home temperature swings is the main reason why many HBers ferment and bottle condition in smaller spaces like a closet or unused bathroom.

Interesting note on Auto Siphons and Cleaning...

6 months? I've used my siphon for over 20 years. No issues so far. Definitely no black ring. I clean mine IMMEDIATELY after use (soap, hot water and a HOT rinse). I let it air dry and NEVER store the pieces assembled.

    My prickly pear mead

Are? LOL! Were. They were ripe (I asked), but not that color at all. I got from from a couple of Mexican grocery stores over 30 miles away.

    steeping with caution

That's how I describe it too. 2 great grands (ages 8 and 12) showed up last week while I was brewing. I gave them a sample of wort coming from the mash tun. I had to emphasize (3 times) that they are NOT supposed to say that they drank beer because they did not drink beer. They had "Barley Tea".

Prickly Pear Mead - now 14 years old.

I had one earlier this year. It was pretty damn good. I also have 11 bottles from two batches of Papazian's Barkshack Ginger Mead from the same year.
