    Hello from the Philly Burbs

I used to visit York a lot. Have we met? Is Mr. Steve's still open?

    Greetings from North Carolina

Welcome Tarheeler! I was stationed at Ft. Bragg 3 times.

moving homebrewing equipment from US to Europe

Yeah, we couldn't ship any canisters too. Even brand new ones. Be sure to check on-line for any Spanish homebrew supply stores. I'm also a member of https://hobbybrauer.de/forum/ a German HB forum. There are lots of links to HB sales, etc. I haven't been there in a while, but I remember...

    Wort chiller question

I can't say, but why don't you measure the height of the max volume level and wind coils until it nears that height. It should be a good indicator on how much to use.

So I brewed a shot of beer

Sadly, this took me back to an early SNL skit where Belushi (I think) worked behind the counter and someone asked for a glass of freshly squeezed raisin juice. He cut the raisins it in half and twisted them on a press juicer. LOL!

Using Star San warm / hot... More or less effective?

I make a 5 gal batch (in an old primary) every month or so. I use both hot and cold at the same time. Never gave it much thought. IMO, if the directions don't specify either way, all's good.

    Cracking of plastic auto siphon?

Mine has some slight cracks, but nothing like that...and I've owned it since 1994. Yep...over 25 years old. I tip my fermenters so the yeast gathers to one side. I know my cracks are self-induced because I use a small spring clamp to hold mine from falling into the yeast while siphoning.

    Primary Bucket Volume Measurements

OK, it's Sunday and I got bored... Long story short, I added water (using a 1/2 g measuring cup) and poured it into my buckets to verify volume levels pre-printed on the pails. These NEW lines WILL BE transferred to my pails. Repeating this process for your pails may be something to think...

    Bottle Washing Idea

There's really nothing to see...just cut the loop off with pliers...insert into drill...ready to use.

    Bottle Washing Idea

That's cool. I've never really been into the 3D printing thing. I'm pretty sure buying a can of frozen concentrate will be more cost effective.

Source for German .5L beer racks

I have 18 of them. I brought them back in my household goods in 2004.

What's the fastest and most powerful stir plate for a 5L flask?

I checked with Tim the Tool Man and he recommends the new Bimford 750 Turbo Deluxe Stir Plate with Juicer Attachments.

    Stupid Joke Thread!

I know...I still have my collection from the 70s, over 300 LPs. FWIW, I also have a (working) 10" Teac Reel-to-Reel.

    Bottle Washing Idea

I washed 80 bottles the other day for today's bottling of Hefe Weizen. If you're like me, you rinse out your bottles, dry them and store them away. Sometimes for months. They can get dusty and need a rewash before sanitizing. Also, if your like most HRers, you attach a bottle brush to your...

    Stupid Joke Thread!

My best all around YO MAMA joke is... YO MAMA so fat...that when she gets on the dance floor...THE BAND SKIPS! LOL! A bear and a rabbit were taking a dump next to a tree. The bear looks over to the bunny and asks "Do you ever have problems with SH!T sticking to your fur?" The rabbit says...

    Stupid Joke Thread!

Those lines are from George Carlin's "Apartment 2C". I remember seeing it when it was on TV in the 80s.

    NEW Yeast Washing Idea

I filter too. My wort runs through nylon netting (from the boil pot to the primary). However, for the new brewers who haven't tried washing yet, this is a simple solution to an otherwise tedious process.
