    Calling Bergen County Home Brewers!

Hey guys, sorry I've been out of the loop for a bit. I've been pretty busy with work and coaching. Anyways, I want to meet up and share some homebrews soon. I recently kicked my German Pils keg so all I have now is my Moose Drool Clone. Two weeks ago I brewed an Apricot Blonde which is currently...

Pic Old Yeast next to Fresh Yeast

Hey guys, I had a vial of WLP 830 German Lager Yeast that was a month out of date and a new vial of the same yeast. Was going to make a big starter and as I am about to pitch into my flask I decided to compare the smell of the two vials. The old out of date yeast smelled rotten compared to the...

    Calling Bergen County Home Brewers!

I'm in for the 30th. Sorry I haven't been on the thread for a few days. Since we didn't have a good response for last weekend I figured I'd brew instead. I brewed up a Moose Drool Clone...has anyone tried this beer?

NEED HELP! Brewing Now! German Pils

Ok thanks for the heads up, ill leave it alone for a few more weeks. It's tempting but I'll have to wait. I'm pretty sure it is grainy smell and flavor. I had a very vigorous boil for 90 mins. I had my buddy who's a BJCP judge taste it and he said its still young and tasted yeasty. So I'm...

    Calling Bergen County Home Brewers!

Also, this is what Boaks tweeted yesterday... @BOAKSBeer: Stop by Andy's Corner bar in Bogota Tonight for the Jersey Assoc of Homebrewers Meeting 8pm @AndysCornerBar. I've gone to a meeting about a year ago and they bring homebrews once a month to Boaks for tastings. What do you guys think...

NEED HELP! Brewing Now! German Pils

A quick update: I have had this beer in my kegerator at 34 degrees for 4.5 weeks and it still pours very hazy. Any idea why lagering hasn't cleared this beer up yet? Also, taste and aroma is fairly grainy. Almost as if I have a handful of pilsner malt and I am chewing on some. Any thoughts or...

    Calling Bergen County Home Brewers!

I like the idea of brewing the same thing and then doing a group tasting! I'm looking forward to that! I'm around whenever for a tasting, as long as I still have some beer on tap! I hope some others chime in so we can see when they are available too. On a side note, I have a vial of WLP 830...

    Calling Bergen County Home Brewers!

Sorry I haven't been on here for a few days. The May 4th brew days sounds awesome, I'm in. As far as a tasting, I'm usually around on the weekends and we can use my place as a spot for a tasting if you guys are up for it. Let me know if you guys want to make it March 9th so we can include Blake.

    Hello from Bergen County, NJ

I just found this thread and I know it's very old but if anyone is still interested here is a link to another thread where we are trying to get a club going and a bunch of guys were supposed to meet 2/9 at Andy's corner but the weather doesn't look good so it may get pushed back a week...

I think there would be a better turn out if we push it back a week. What do you guys think?

Foamy First 4oz from Tap, Need Help!

I was thinking about this post where u mention that carb levels change as the keg empties. Do you think this is because temperature at the bottom of the fridge is 2-4 degrees colder then at the top of the fridge? So as the keg empties and the level of the beer in the keg gets lower, the...

Foamy First 4oz from Tap, Need Help!

I've used pbw also but I'm cautious with the amount of rinsing that u have to do after you use it with water then an acid based substance like star san. I've heard BLC is amazing at cleaning the lines so I figured I'd give it a try. I just ordered 35 feet of 3/16 beer line, and 2 perlik faucets.

Foamy First 4oz from Tap, Need Help!

I wish I could upgrade my system to look like yours, but I'm too afraid of messing it up. Until then, I've decided to upgrade my kegerator and I am ordering two Perlick Forward Seal faucets. Anyone have these and what do you think? I am also ordering 35 feet of of 3/16th so that I can play with...

Foamy First 4oz from Tap, Need Help!

That's an awesome upgrade! I'm not the handiest guy around so I doubt I could pull off an upgrade like that, plus the door on my kegerator is plastic. Is there any specific reason you put the taps on the front rather then keep the tower other then to add two more taps?

I wish I thought of this long ago before I bought a stir plate!

Foamy First 4oz from Tap, Need Help!

I did a search and found a few that look good. I was inquiring to see if anyone has one and if they like it, how quiet it is, and if they recommend it.
