American Pale Ale Coldwater 420 - Special Pale Ale

I brewed the Austin Homebrew kit and then killed the keg in a weekend. It was delicious! I made a few changes and moved the flameout hops to a 170* whirlpool for 20 min then added 1 oz of cascade to dryhop 3 days before kegging. I cant say it was a perfect clone of 420 but I can say it was a...

    Fermenting under Pressure + Chilling

Good idea and great point. I am all in on the Fermzilla all rounders! Cheap, clear, easy to clean, pressure rated...and did I say cheap!

    Fermenting under Pressure + Chilling

If your doing all this in a keg how are you dumping yeast / trub. Without a conical tank with a dump valve this isnt making sense to me?

Lutra kveik with Propper seltzer stuck ferm.

SO I guess ferm was just a bit slow. On day 9 I pulled a sample. Hit my FG perfect and the taste was great. A tiny bit sweet but very clean with 0 off flavors. I am cold crashing now so we will see how clear it gets before kegging with flavor extract.

Lutra kveik with Propper seltzer stuck ferm.

My active fermentation started around 36 hours. Im keeping the temp around 80-85. I will take a gravity in just a day or so. It said it should finish at 1.000. We will see.

    Philly Sour

Reporting back on results. I brewed Elric's recipe aducsted for my equiptment and was thrilled by the results. I split the batch after dry hopping and put half the batch on a can of raspberry puree and left the other half plain. The raspberry version was epic. Perfect ammount of sour and...

    BIAB - Commercial scale?

Take a bit of time to watch some of Brewha's videos. Its really an inovative system. You are basically mashing, boiling and fermenting all in the same vessel. YOu buy one mash collander and multiple fermentation vessels. Its hard to explain but makes perfect sence after visiting thier...

    BIAB - Commercial scale?

I spent quite some time watching all the Brewha videos and reading all the info on their website and I am impressed to say the least! It really seems that the support they offer and the cohesive product line makes this a very viable option for opening a small nano brewery or brew pub!

    BIAB - Commercial scale?

Im so curious as a homebrewer how this would translate. If it works I wonder why its not more common. Seems easier and takes up way less space...so curious to see one of these 4-10BBL eBIAB systems in operation!

    BIAB - Commercial scale?

Speidel now makes a 1000 leiter or 8BBL version! It converts to 55k USD. I cant find any info or video of a commercial brewery in the US using one though?

American Pale Ale Coldwater 420 - Special Pale Ale

Thanks for your thoughtful responce! I ordered the kit and will try it as the kig comes then do a direct comparison with 420 which I can get around here. I will follow up with thoughts then try again replacing the crystal with base malt and see how it changes. As always the members here are a...

    What fermenter is your favorite?

There are some very sweet setups in this thread. Love the dry hopping set up too. I do closed transfers in glass carboys all the time with one of those orange caps but recently got a Fermzilla All Rounder and am convinced for the money there is nothing better. 100% closed transfer and...

When to step up from Extract to All Grain?

Another vote for all grain here. I actually only brewed one extract batch many...many years ago, all grain since then. My one recommendation is get yourself a nice electric brewing system. Tons of info on here and price range from 300 bucks to many thousands. I can only vouch for the...

Adding adjuncts at primary fermenter? Thoughts?

thanks for the tip! I'm gonna just give the coffee 24 hours in the cold crash and see how that tastes...you can always add more right!

Adding adjuncts at primary fermenter? Thoughts?

Super old thread so sorry to resurrect. Im using the Fermzilla all rounder to pressure ferment for the 1st time. I brewed a classic cream ale and will be adding coffee and vanilla beans. I typically rack to secondary when doing fruit additions but Im now thinking I would like to just add the...

The NEW Grainfather Water Profile Tool

Hi, Thansk for your input...I clicked around and found no way to change the unit measurement. I will have to look at water volumes when I get home. It was for a 5 gallon batch though so im guessing strike water was around 5.5 gallons and sparge probably around 2.25?
