I brewed a dry stout with it two weeks ago. That was 15 gallons split with Cali and US-05. Now I'm brewing 15 gallons pale ale that I'm going to repitch WLP001 in two fermenters and dry San Diego in the other.
I store most of my stuff in my 10x12 brew shed. I can set it up almost anywhere. I have a jobsite temporary power setup.
It's also my fermentation chamber. I insulated it very well. Even when it's over 110F it stays 60F.
I've been using this for quite a few brews now. No problems with it.
I have another homemade SSVR-pot based boil control. This gets a tic more power to the element and has more precise control.
A knob is nice. This is slow too get to zero. I always have it at zero before I shut it off.
Why is that important? Never mind.
I'll probably do a PID for my HLT. My homemade amazonian boil control is working fine though. I can watch a thermometer. I waste less time that way.
Brewers friend is close. I have decocted before because I was off. I guess I could fire up the propane.
Still the cooler is lighter than if it was full of beer and ice and it's meant to be carried. Full the brim I'd need two people. We're all different. My 80qt pot weighs more empty than the...
Keg lube on the lid o ring fixed my problems. The leak was so slow I didn't notice it until fermentation stopped. I added pressure daily to keep it at 15psi until I kegged it. A few times I've had to take the lid off to fix the dip tube and it roused the yeast.
I brewed five gallons of a 4% 20 IBU light lager last week. I pitched one WLP-833 pure pitch. It fermented fast in the low 60s at 15 psi in my allrounder. It's just a starter.
Yesterday I brewed a Festbier. I pressure transfered the light lager to a keg as the Festbier chilled. Then I pumped...
My first mash tun was a five gallon water cooler. I never did get good consistent efficiency with it. I moved up to a 52 quart chest (with a low drain) and things improved. It's easy to stir and drains more complete.
Now I use a 70 qt cooler. WIth 30 lbs 1.7 qt/lb and a single batch sparge it's...
I bought one pack. I'm going to split a batch with it, US-05 and my current favorite Apex San Diego. I might get a brick of San Diego.
