    Cold crash length?

I cold crash at 34 as well but only for 24-48 hours. I use whirlflock (sp) in the boil and go 3 weeks before cold crashing. After three weeks the beer almost clear already. 24-48 hours at 34 and its clear. I will admit that there is usually a little settlement on the bottom of the keg when...

    The bad things about e-brewing

Why not build the ebrew setup up on it? Even if it has burners incorporated in it, you can still use it as a stand and to gravity feed.

    The bad things about e-brewing

Only negatives I have had so far is the set up cost of course.... Elements, cords, and control set up whether home built or bought will always cost more than a propane burner. Some examples have shown the electricity usage costs less than propane refills long term, but it will be years before I...

    Co2 Reg for Nitro?

I would think you could use this adapter from keg connections http://www.kegconnection.com/co2-regulator-to-nitrogen-tank-adapter/

    CO2 & Keg lost pressure

Either a leak, or the lid didnt seat properly.

    CO2 & Keg lost pressure

Happened to me once too. Your beer will be fine, just leave the cover closed and don't purge whatever pressure is left in there. Even if there is no pressure there is still a blanket of co2 covering the beer, that's why I say don't open it. Go ahead and get the tank refilled. Two things...

    Chocolate raspberry milk stout

Any feedback on this recipe? There's a lot going on, but I think chocolate and raspberries pair well and I do like a milk stout. Chocolate Raspberry Milk Stout Style: Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer OG: 1.091 Type: All Grain FG: 1.023 Rating: 0.0 ABV: 8.95 % Calories: 297.47 IBU's: 29.86...

How do i slow down a stor plate

My friend hooked me up with a laboratory stir plate from her work when they were reducing inventory. My question is how do I slow it down? On its slowest speed I get a vortex to the bottom of a one liter starter. Here are some shots of the unit and the rather simple control board. I was...

    PSA: Foolproof Stuck-Ferment-Fixer

I will be using this method to salvage a confirmed stuck Oktoberfest with Wyeast Kolsch... It petered out at 1.030 (from 1.072). I'll be racking onto a pale ale cake made with Safale 05. Should I cold crash my pale ale first to get a nice yeast cake? My concern is that I will be doing this...

Why did you get into this hobby?

I love beer and I love to cook. Home brewing is like combining the two. I like the freedom to make what I want and tweak it to my liking. I was always intimidated by the idea of brewing but then my friend, and up north neighbor, showed me it isn't that hard and even told me what to buy so...

    Blackberry wheat gone wrong...i think

Your yeast will work just fine... Although you may not have as much aroma and taste from the blackberries due to it being scrubbed during fermentation. Most people add the fruit when going to secondary ( or after initial fermentation is done if not using a secondary). Reason being is that all...

    First Timer Questions

Relax... Everything is fine. How long do you sit and watch the airlock for bubbles? Airlock activity is not an end all indicator of fermentation. My first batch was almost the same. Bubbled hard for about 24 hours then it died. turns out it was over a minute between bubbles. Remember that...

    Cold crashing

It is essentially a technique used to clear your beer. You take the beer and chill it to a temp too cold for the yeast. They then go dormant and drop out of suspension making for clearer beer. It's not required.

Show us how you mounted your control panel

I mounted my control panel with a part of a satellite dish mounting system. The part on the back of the panel will allow me to add some tilt angle to the panel and allow me to turn it side to side. It is then mounted to a patio mount stand. The plan will be to have the bottom bracket behind the...

    Taking the electric plunge

And I'm done! Well, with the control panel anyway. I am using parts of a satellite dish mounting system to mount the panel and provide a stand. The mount will allow my to add some tilt up and down in addition to turning side to side. Inside Outside Upside down Mount Stand
