Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Ok, so sounds like this is normal? I am probably throwing it around too much from just testing different temps. I just want to make sure it will work right when I actually start fermenting and setting a temp profile.

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I go a message on the LCD that I haven't seen before while testing out my new controller. Cooling and heating relays are configured, with a fridge temp probe, and mode is set to fridge constant. I set the temp higher than the temp probe to test if the heating relay would kick in, and got a...

    How To: BrewPi LCD Add-On

Cool! I took out the 5v pin and it seems to be working! Weird that my other controller with the same hardware has the 5v pin plugged in for the encoder currently and doesn’t have the issue. But it resolved the problem for this one so I guess that’s what matters ;)

    How To: BrewPi LCD Add-On

I am building my second controller, using Arduino and Cadibrewer's shield. First one I made a while ago, so I forget all the little issues I had along the way and how to fix them. I got everything hooked up, LCD and rotary encoder in place. When I turn the rotary knob, the backlight shuts off...

    Question for garage/shed brewers

I pretty much do the same - food grade drinking water hose from house. I rigged up a pretty elaborate system to make it as easy to set up and distribute as possible. I have a garden faucet attached to the outside of the garage with a quick disconnect, so during a brew day, I just bring my hose...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Got it here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071FKFK6W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bought two more, but got one with a bit more depth. It was hard to squeeze everything in when closing the lid. I like seeing all the wires though, makes it feel more DIY

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Just wanted to share a pic of my completed controller! I haven't tested in a real world scenario yet, but everything seems to be responding properly! Thanks to @Thorrak @LBussy @day_trippr and @CadiBrewer for helping me work through troubleshooting way back in this thread. Cheers! :mug:

Fruit Puree Settling At Bottom Of Keg

I kegged a saison a couple weeks ago, adding about a teaspoon of Yuzu puree. When first kegged, it was very well mixed, and samples tasted great. However as it sat carbonating in the cold kegerator, it seems as if the Yuzu puree is settling completely to the bottom. A pour from the dip tube was...

PSA - Boiling Starter Wort in Flask

Is your stove electric? If so, they heat the glass unevenly and can cause hot spots, cracking the glass. If you have a gas stove with good control over the flame, you can gently heat the flask with no issues, as the flames tend to wrap around the base more evenly.

Blue-ish/ white patina inside stainless parts

Looks like you are right about the brass, I just looked up the part online and it is indeed coated brass. So you think it is safe to keep running it?

Blue-ish/ white patina inside stainless parts

Any recommendations on cleaning this with something I can run through the lines? I bet it is also on the inside of the SS coil in the box as well.

Blue-ish/ white patina inside stainless parts

I noticed this weird patina on the inside of some stainless steel parts in my jockey box. Specifically in the shank that connects the beer line. When I last used it, I ran a cycle of beer line cleaner through all components, including the one in question. Afterwards, I ran regular water to...

    Rinsing oak barrel between batches?

Cool, thanks for all the help!

    Rinsing oak barrel between batches?

Also, any thoughts on ways to store the barrel if not in use? I may not be able to re-fill it with fresh beer right away, and wondering the best process for clean up in case long term storage is needed.

    Rinsing oak barrel between batches?

Wow... literally a game changer for me! Definitely buying these for all my Fermonsters. I hate worrying about the spigot on the layer of cat hair on my floor.

    Rinsing oak barrel between batches?

I like the idea of the spigot on the Fermonster for taking oxygen free samples, but I worry about the seam and gasket for the spigot leaking over extended time. Do you foresee an issue with this, or are they pretty durable in your experience? I have one but I've never had a beer in it longer...

    Rinsing oak barrel between batches?

Definitely helps, thanks! Do you think the extended portion of the aging out of the barrel should be in plastic (Better Bottle) or glass? It sounds like Better Bottles are right in-between glass and plastic buckets as far as oxygen-permeability. Since it will be getting a pretty good amount...
