    Help saving a saison

Yeah it seemed quick, I was just following this recipe write up. I haven't used this yeast before, so I just followed the guide exactly. Recipe: L’Esprit de Blaugies Spelt Saison Next time I'll let it sit a bit longer at a comfy temp. And I will be carbonating in the unitank with a stone, so...

    Help saving a saison

Will it age out if the fermentor is sealed off, or should I put the blow off back on to let it escape?

    Help saving a saison

Brewed a belgian saison a couple weeks ago, Safale BE-134 was the yeast of choice. Undershot the OG, ended up being 1.042, so I only used 1 packet of yeast assuming this would be sufficient. Aiming for 72°, but I am currently troubleshooting an issue with my fermentation temp controller...

    Help Troubleshooting Temperature Reading Problem

I tried this, and they are all reading just about the same as each other. Even the temp gauge that was reading 50. I calibrated them all a while back with ice water, they don't seem to have strayed much. Definitely going to try this when the batch is done. I'd do it now, but I want to avoid...

Glycol Chiller Doesn't Cool Below 43F/6C

Maybe it's the full moon or something, but I am having almost the exact same issue haha! If I learn anything from the post I made, I'll pass it along

    Help Troubleshooting Temperature Reading Problem

Hoping to get some ideas of where to start troubleshooting. I'm just going to post everything I'm doing to help get a sense of where to begin looking. I am trying to cold crash in my Spike CF10 with their temp control coil and a DIY glycol chiller I've built. Glycol temp is set to 28° F. The...

    Lower than expected OG

I agree it isn't 100% accurate, but for the sake of a 5 gal home-brew I don't think it's a huge deal to be .1 gal off. As you say, I don't think this is the problem unless I was off by a quarter gallon or more. Fermentation underway, hydrometer sample at 68, currently at 1.039. Unless the yeast...

    Lower than expected OG

Full amount of wort was in the kettle, coming up to boil temp. The wort at this point should be nearly fully mixed, but I gave it several swirls with a paddle, letting it rest before filling my hydrometer cylinder. There's no way this wasn't mixed enough, unless something about the ingredients...

    Lower than expected OG

Kettle and fermentor are marked with gallons. Software is all dialed in to include the systems deadspaces, tubing loss, cooling shrinkage, etc. all the volumes were spot on to the estimated amounts.

    Lower than expected OG

Temp was corrected. Pre boil was taken from kettles bottom port after a good amount of stirring and settling. Post boil taken from the fermentor after at least 15 min sitting idle.

    Lower than expected OG

Hoping I can get some help troubleshooting an issue with my efficiency. I having brewed on this system in a while, so I am still working out some kinks. 3 vessel E-HERMS system, I use Brewer's Friend for calculations, just brewed a saison and my OG is lower than expected. According to the...

My latest brewery upgrade - slide in pump mounts!

Man I can't tell ya how long I have been trying to figure some solution to mounting my pumps under my stainless table without some overly complicated series of brackets and framing. This is so elegant, and I can't wait to give it a shot!

    Custom Pot Filler

I always like the simple route! I might have one lying around somewhere, but I will let y'all know how it works!

    Custom Pot Filler

Even cracking the valve open is very high pressure, it's pretty much straight off the main water line. I wanted to avoid doing a hard pipe solution and keep it as a hose so that I could fill other vessels as well, buckets and FVs and such. But thanks for the suggestions!

    Custom Pot Filler

I am putting the final touches on a pot filling wand, I have a copper pipe supplying some tubing, into a stainless tube bent to allow it to sit at the edge of a pot. My thought was that the bend would keep it from falling off the edge when filling, but I didn't account for the water pressure...

Home brew buzz VS commercial buzz

When I am out drinking at a brewery, I will start feeling it after a couple 6% pints, but then I realize that I haven't eaten any food since lunch. Especially if I'm having a good time with friends at a happy hour, I tend to forget basic human needs like drinking water and eating, leading to a...

Anyone Familiar with Long Island Homebrew?

well, I guess I got suckered into this too. Completely being ghosted trying to contact them about a part of my order that is missing. Wasn't a huge dollar amount, just the bottle caps for an Aphrometer (lucky that arrived, as it was the pricy bit). Also, after reading that comment about the FAQ...

"Hard" plumbing for 3 vessel E-HERMS system

Awesome, this is exactly what I was looking for, thanks Bobby!

"Hard" plumbing for 3 vessel E-HERMS system

Using 2 pumps, one will be HLT only, so just water, other will switch between mash recirculation and brew kettle. Using a counterflow chiller. And yes there is a return port for the BK. It's a standard Spike brewing trio system.

"Hard" plumbing for 3 vessel E-HERMS system

Actually haven't thought about using SS tubing, always just pictured larger spools with welded TC ends. Either way, regardless of what exact materials I plan to use, what I am mainly looking for is advice on the layout designing for wort flow, i.e. placement of valves and tee's, etc.
