    DIY Corny Keg Carbonation Lid

Maybe a dumb question. Can I just use the cheap stones intended for an aquarium aerator?

    Buying cheap drip trays...

+1 to the drywall mud pan. No modification needed, hung it to the side of my Keezer with strong magnets. Just throw it in the dishwasher when you want to clean it. They are so tall, they might not be the best if you have a tower setup though.

    DIY Corny Keg Carbonation Lid

I also use ten gallon cornies to ferment in. I might do something similar to them to make thermo wells. Instead of silicone tubing, I'll use stainless tubing and cap the end. Thanks again, this has inspired me to think about a few new ideas!

Corny Kegs on eBay (Not mine)

I am relatively local and stopped by the warehouse. He has more kegs than you could imagine. He was really nice, let my friend and I cherry pick our kegs, and even threw in some defective ones so we could strip them of dip tubes and such. I highly recommend dealing with this guy and doubt he...

    Maris Otter SMaSH Suggestions

I wanted to try a MO smash a well to learn more about the grain. I know MO should be mashed a little cooler than normal, what is the general consensus for a smash mash temperature?

    Alabama vote.

This was all so much easier in that school house rock video....

Reg chest freezer vs commercial chest freezer

Onthekeg hit it on the head. Commercials have awesome bling factor. But they really aren't designed for home use. They are intended to be opened many times a day. They consume crazy amounts of power on top of being more expensive. They do look awesome however...

    Mountain Brewers - Let's start a group!

Born in Colorado and after a few year detour thanks to the real world, returning in two weeks. I'll be in Boulder/Gunbarrel. Strictly a home brewer. Ten gallon batches with four styles on tap at a time.

Anyone ever try to use a 15 gallon keg as a fermenter?

They make great fermentors. But I wouldn't plan on putting 15 gallons in them. I only do ten so there is plenty of headspace.

    lacing

So I guess I did a good job cleaning! Never had my homebrew lace all that well before.

    Pressure Levels After Force Carbing

Thanks Bobby, From my basic physics classes I feared that must be the case. I suppose someday getting multiple regulators is the only solution. Even one way check valves would only very temporarily solve it. Thanks! John

    Pressure Levels After Force Carbing

I tried to search this without much luck. But I am still curious: I've actually been brewing a while, but never paid close attention to carbing. I just set everything using the set and forget method and hit 2.2 volumes of CO2. For some styles, this is way too low, but I have never cared before...

How long will a batch of star san stay effective?

Slightly an aside and slightly not. My Starsan solutions made with tap water cloud instantly. Right after addition. Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of my Starsan solution? I am positive I get the ratio right. Also, should I be concerned about the possible ph problems of my water...

    Carbonating keg before cold

The method HappyDrunk describes works just fine if you are in a hurry and want to drink this weekend. It isn't perfect and not what I do most the time. But I've done it in a pinch before. You'll probably lose a couple pints blowing foam but not a serious amount. You'll also be unsure of the...

English Porter Atonement Brown Porter (2011 HBT Gold Category 12)

I brewed this on Saturday. I was growing a bit concerned today because it seemed as though my fermentation had stalled. I checked the gravity and astonishingly it was already done. The sample tasted awesome for such a green beer. I am really excited for this one! I did replace the yeast with...

The stupidest comment on your beer

Brilliant idea! Most of them help me brew, bring food and such, so like I said not complaining. It's just really funny they don't recognize the actual cause. This should help, especially since my Keezer is chalkboard painted.

The stupidest comment on your beer

My friends (BMC folks) are convinced the ABV of my homebrew is 20%. Keep in mind I keep a conscious effort to brew low ABV beers. What they don't realize is since it is free and on tap they drink 4x of it. I imagine this one has been brought up a zillion times. Not complaining that they drink...
