I also value taste above all else. If I want a stiff drink, I'll just have a little bourbon. I think high ABV in beer can get a little distracting and overpowering if the rest of the profile doesn't measure up to it. That said, Backwoods Bastard by Founder's is one of my all time favorite beers...
