Help! What do I brew on Saturday???

Brew session went as planned - hit all my numbers. Pitched a 4l starter of rogue pacman yeast which has had a very slow start. Per recommendations from other and Rogue I set my temp lower (62 degrees) than I typically do for ales. Supposedly Pacman can Ferment down to 60 degrees. After 2 days...

    Clean your SS boil kettle?

Agree with the others who use Barkeepers friend. This product works great on all my stainless. If I have some caked on mess, I will soak with PBW first. 95% of the time BKF gets the job done. Also, using BKF will passivate your SS which is a plus.

    Do you oxygenate your starters?

Like others have mentioned, no need to oxygenate starter with stone/pump. The motion of the stir plate injects plenty of O2 into the starter. I run for 48 hours, chill, decant, pitch.

Help! What do I brew on Saturday???

Jon - I like where you're going with this. I do have a fresh sack of floor malted Maris ready to go. I will build off of traditional British malt backbone including maris otter and victory. Hop with warrior, liberty, and centennial. Rogue yeast to ferment. Here's the draft recipe. Any...

Help! What do I brew on Saturday???

So, on tap I have an amarillo/mosaic IPA, Mexican Lager (modelo), ESB, and pomegranate apple cider (for the GF crowd). In terms of preference I tend to prefer a more sessionable beer in the summertime.

Help! What do I brew on Saturday???

OK Folks - it's independence day weekend. I have a 4 liter starter of pacman on the stirplate, a large grain inventory, and no idea what I should brew this weekend. As pacman is a very versatile yeast for american styles I know I have a few options. I need as many HBT hero's as possible to...

    Experiment: Bottling with gelatin

Happy Monday everyone - This weekend I decided I'd make the most of my current dilemma (too much beer) and bottle half of my Modelo lager as the keezer is full. The first 5 gallons went straight to the keg, fined with gelatin, and put on gas for carbonation. The last 5.5 gallons was...

    Official Broken Hydrometer Count

Do, not sure if this counts - last night I had a dream that I broke a hydrometer. In the dream, I made a mental note that I needed to report it on the HBT hydrometer thread. Homebrewing and HBT have officially invaded my brain and subconscious!

I've got 10# of the other corn split. I could take 5 or 10 off your hands at pickup. Time to brew another batch or two of Modelo.

Tony, if you don't need the Golden - I'd prefer it instead of the wheat. Thanks again for managing this chaos.

    DC Area Group Buy #16

I had wanted 10# of the light DME - guess that didn't happen. Will take the last 10# of the Wheat DME then. Thanks so much for making sense of all these orders and splits!

    DC Area Group Buy #16

If we can get the light DME split closed, I will back out of the wheat split and take 10# of light DME.

    DC Area Group Buy #16

I'm in for 10# of the wheat DME. I would change to light DME if folks want to. Either way, I am low on DME and am hoping either split closes.

I guess I'll try to help on the DME split as well. Put me down for 10lbs of the briess Bavarian wheat DME.

It looked like there was an open split of pale rye with 5lbs left. If it is indeed still open, you can put me down for 5 and close the split.

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

Camping with the family - bringing growlers of the latest IPA.
