    Beer flavored OJ

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give it a few weeks and taste again then decide if I want to brew another batch of the base and mix. Have no fear, it will not be dumped and I'll make it work.

    Beer flavored OJ

Thats now what I wanted to hear! Haha. Oh well, I'll give it time and maybe the taste will also mellow once it is carbed and chilled.

    Beer flavored OJ

Long story short, I added too much orange honey and marmalade to my wheat recipe at flame out and now I have beer flavored orange juice after 2 weeks on the primary. I just racked to a secondary and will give it at least 2 weeks but I'm thinking more like 4 or more. How much do you think the...

California Ale yeast with wheat brew?

I am going to do a Orange Honey Wheat batch tomorrow and when I was at my LHBS she suggested using White Labs WLP051 California V Ale Yeast. I bought it but now I'm having some doubts whether this strain will work well in an Orange Honey Wheat? Brewing tomorrow so quick thoughts are...

    caribou slobber

By the way, I just bottled a batch of this about a week ago and popped by first bottle today to try it out and it is simply awesome. You'll enjoy it.

My darkest and lightest brews to date

Tonight I just bottled my Moose Drool clone 31 days after brew day (21 in primary and 10 in secondary). Right now I'm fermenting a Blonde ale which is extremely light and quite low on the OG scale. Talk about opposite ends of the color spectrum! Excited for both!

    Finally Drinking My First Homebrew!

I just recently opened my first honey wheat. Man it tasted great after a long motorcycle ride yesterday opening up a 22oz bottle and just sitting on my patio relaxing drinking my homebrew.

    My life is now complete.

You know, it's dumb stuff like that that makes devoted customers like us. They didnt have to do that and could have just laughed it off but since they took the time to draw it then it just goes to show they care about the customer. Kudos.

May the Beer Gods give me patience...

Go ahead and taste the beer at 12 days! Will be optimal yet? Nope, but taste it with that knowledge and then taste one per week for the next few weeks and then you can taste how the aging process works. Just dont set your expectations very high for this first one and you may be pleasantly...

    Father's Day gifts?

Maui Jim's and a new mug. Mug says: "Dads to do list: Fill. Drink. Repeat" which I did after work tonight. :)

The Trials of my first brew (a Love story)

Sounds like you did it just right with some good music, a sidekick, and some craft brew to enjoy while you're making your first batch. Good job! Now the hard part is to leave it and let it do its thing for several weeks!

    Hops for Cream Ale

I just bottled that same kit 2 weeks ago and popped a couple open tonight. It is a very good kit as is so you may want to try it with the provided hops then try the saaz next time. Mine is still a bit hoppy but it is still early too and that will mellow with time. I did half of the bittering...

    Another bottle bomb question. Help

Thats a good idea. I did bottle 6ea 12oz bottles for monitoring and taste testing so I'll pop one a week for the next 3 weeks or so. That way at least I'm not wasting 22oz if it's not ready yet. Thanks.

    Another bottle bomb question. Help

Anybody else think I'll be okay or should I be ducking for cover in a week? :D

    Another bottle bomb question. Help

1/4lb of Honey malt. It was a Midwest Boundary Waters wheat which contains 6 lb. Wheat liquid malt extract, 1/2 lb. Caravienne, 1/2 lb. Carapils, 1 oz. Sterling hops, 1 oz. Palisade aroma hops. I added the honey malt to the grain steeping.

I forgot to mention, it was a 5 gallon batch with 5oz of priming sugar.

    Another bottle bomb question. Help

I'm brewing a honey wheat that has been fermenting 17 days. It was never an aggressive fermentation and bubbling slowed to under a minute this past weekend. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to bottle tonight and I'm a bit worried about bottle bombs. I'll give pertinent data and you give...

    American wheat fermentation question

Good to know you had a wheat that probably needed 3 full weeks too. I'll let it sit another week and try to be patient. On a positive note, the sample tasted excellent even though it was still a bit sweet and had an awesome golden/orange color. Cant wait. I know this needs more fermentation...
