    WLP051 Cali V yeast

I am brewing a pale ale this coming weekend using WLP051 Cali V yeast. I just got a new chest freezer and temp controller for my fermentation. White Labs recommends this yeast between 66F-70F for optimal fermentation. I'm looking for opinions of those who have experience with this yeast...

Combining 2 Kegs to 1 tap

Even better. If I try this, I will post results. Thanks for the tips!

Combining 2 Kegs to 1 tap

Sweet! I'll do some research and see if I can find something for a price that would make the experiment worth trying. Thanks.

Combining 2 Kegs to 1 tap

Curiosity factor of if it would work more than anything.

Combining 2 Kegs to 1 tap

Forgive the ignorance, but what do you mean by check valves and where in the setup would I need to put them?

Combining 2 Kegs to 1 tap

I had a random thought last night and wanted to post it on here to see if it would work or not. Suppose you had 2 kegs and 3 taps. Let's say keg 1 had a pale ale and keg 2 had a stout. You wanted tap 3 to have a nice blend of both the pale and stout (Black and Tan). Would it work to take the...

    Hop combinations to avoid!!!

Nifty little BYO hop chart. You can select a beer style and will pull up hops that may be appropriate for that style and gives characteristic descriptions of each hop: http://byo.com/resources/hops?style=2. It doesn't answer your question, but may help you decide more appropriately for a...

    Chocolate Marshmallow Coconut Porter advice

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll go that route. Although the dry fluffing suggestion was mighty tempting. :D

    Chocolate Marshmallow Coconut Porter advice

I've been thinking about brewing an all grain Chocolate Marshmallow Coconut porter and have been thinking about what / when to add for the specialty ingredients. I was thinking about using some chocolate malt and adding cocoa nibs to the secondary for the chocolate flavor. I was thinking of...

    Cold Crash before kegging question

Ah, I never thought about using something like Splenda for added sweetness, thanks for the tip!

    Cold Crash before kegging question

Ok, thanks for the help all. I'll add the apple to the fermenter just to avoid any issues.

    Cold Crash before kegging question

What if I plan to bottle some of it with a beergun and then let the bottles warm to room temperature, would that cause issue?

    Cold Crash before kegging question

I was trying to find my answer by searching google, but didn't really know how to phrase it. I brewed an ale with apple to be added. It's sitting in the primary and, at first, I was thinking of racking to a secondary on top of apple concentrate. This would of course be fermentable and my...

Party Tap won't stop flowing! HELP!

There it is! I unscrewed the thumb lever and screwed it on tight. It's working now. This is my first kegging experience, so I was kind of freaking out. Thanks for the help! Time to enjoy some homebrew.

Party Tap won't stop flowing! HELP!

Sure did. It won't stop flow until I completely release all of the pressure, then it won't flow at all. As soon as I add PSI, I flows past the tap.

Party Tap won't stop flowing! HELP!

I tried dropping pressure to about 5 PSI and it is still flowing past the tap. Thoughts?

Party Tap won't stop flowing! HELP!

I just kegged and force carbed a Pale Ale at 20PSI. I went to put on the ball lock party tap and it's closed, but the beer won't stop flowing past the stopper and out onto the floor every time I hook up the beer ball lock. What am I doing wrong? Or do I have a bum tap?

Oak Cubes in Smoked Brown Ale

I am using Briess. That's a great guide, thanks for the tip!

Oak Cubes in Smoked Brown Ale

Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll only use in the secondary. Has anyone used liquid smoke in a smoked beer before? Good or bad experiences with it? I'm just afraid my beer won't be smoky enough and may need a little kick. I definitely don't want it to taste like a steak, but have a nice smoky...

Oak Cubes in Smoked Brown Ale

I'm making a smoked brown ale tomorrow and to impart a little more smoky flavor, I was thinking of adding some cubes during the boil and possibly some more after primary fermentation if it still needs more wood flavor. I have used oak in the secondary before, but never the boil. Will adding...
