    Do i have bombs ?

Actually i cooled them all and pressure is not that highwhen cold. So i offered everyone cider last weekend. Everyone was happy and burped a lot. Lesson learned. Make a memo when you have to heat sterilise and calculate primming sugar twice.

How long does it take you ?

Well... Looks like thats a normal brew time then. All grain reallly is a lot longer than extract. But well worth it. It tastes so much better. And beergolf... Dont kill birds please :p. Lol

How long does it take you ?

Hi ! I started brewing from extract in febuary 2015. Now i just bought a complete all grain kit (pot/immertion cooler/5gallon carboy/...). I just did my 3rd all grain brew today. It took me a bit over 5 hours ! Is this normal ? Does it take less time with experience ? With better equipment...

    Do i have bombs ?

;i checked fg and its at 0.996. So i guess fermentation is over ? Thats as low as its gonna get. Ill keep the bottles cool to prevent any further fermentation and keep pressure low. And keep one bottle warm to check gravity again in 48hrs. If its still at 0.996 then i guess fermentatyion is...

    Do i have bombs ?

Funny thing. I opened a bottle that was in the fridge for 24 hrs. Barely any pressure and not bubbles/foam gushing out. But when i put a bit in the gravity meter cylinder foam gushed out everywhere. Seems like apple cider can absorb a hell of a lot of co2 when cold ! Maybe i should make a joke...

    Do i have bombs ?

Damn. Ill have to remember that next time i make a cider. Guess ill cool then to 1 degree and the uncap them slowly and recap. Maybe i could take a gravity test to know about how much sugar i have left in them. Or just test a bottle every couple of days to make sure they are not overprimming...

    Do i have bombs ?

Si. Mi tienned bombas. 50 bombas carajo... I added that much because the cider was much too strong (about 11%). So i added 1/4 volume apple juice to soften the taste. I added 4 liters to the total 16l batch. I was going to heat sterilise them once it was enough bubbles, but i totally forgot...

    Do i have bombs ?

Ok. Right after writing the previous post. I thought about what would happen if a bottle exploded (mess, wife nagging...) So o opened one up to check. Almost 1/4 of the bottle rocketed out of the bottle in bubbles... Pressure did not seem extreme, but morw than should be in there. How much...

    Do i have bombs ?

I made my first apple cider about 5 weeks ago. Fermented, secondary... 9 days ago i bottled evrything. I added 1.89 liters of best quality apple juice to every 6 liters of pure cider. The apple juice contains 25 grams of sugar (27 total carbohydrates) per 250ml (1cup). So that means ~190...

    Rubber plug stuck in carboy

Thank ! The grocery bag worked easy. Just one quick pull and it was out ! I now bought the orange plug. But mine looks like this. One plug for the vent and one for a blowoff. 5$ at my local brewshop. No more plugs poping out alone or getting stuck in. Thanks again

    Rubber plug stuck in carboy

I gotta get some of those ! Damn regular stoppers, way too stiff. Either they pop out or get stuck. Thanks !

    Rubber plug stuck in carboy

Wow ! A lot of replies. I tried fiddling around with a coat hanger but was losing my patience. Ill try other ideas tomorrow. I gotta brew my baileys red ale friday afternoon. So i gotta get it out. If not ill just brew with the damn thing inside :p

Help me finish my apple cider

Hi again ! I juiced 40kg of apples (4 different kinds including green for "tartness"), added 1kg of brown sugar, and fermented them for 10 days. Then transfered it to secondary for another 10 days. It is now ready to bottle. I read the technique of adding juice to sweeten it. Then bottle...

    building a miniture coldroom

Yeah. And there are some tiny dehumidifiers... It could work ! Ill check it out today. Thanks

    building a miniture coldroom

Its a small 6x6 closet. A 5000 btu a/c is overkill. It would just cycle shorty. Not running long enough to remove moisture (quebec, canada is very humid). If i could find a 2000 btu MAX a/c it could work. But i doubt i could finbd one. I really like the peltier cooling idea. Noise free almost too...

    building a miniture coldroom

Hi ! I have a 6×6 closet that i want to convert into a coldroom to store my beer and fermentor. I would insulate the walls, floor and door. Now the problem is cooling it. Temperature in the room holds around 25 to 30 (75-85) during the warm season. I dont need that many btu's sincei only...
