    Brew Supply Cellar

Thanks – that’s good advice. I have been brewing ales, most of which have included these ingredients: Specialty Malts: Crystal Malt 60L Crushed Chocolate Munich Malt Vienna Malt Hops: Willamette hops Challenger hops Galena Hops Tennang hops Would keeping a little of...

    Brew Supply Cellar

I can hardly wait to make the transition to all grain. Santa brought me a new 8-gallon pot, and I’ve completed my mash tun. I just capped my last 5 gallons of extract brew, and when I don’t have anything fermenting I get the brewing blues. I don’t live in an area where supplies are readily...

FG is high, should I bottle?

Thank you. My SG was 1.060. From all the posts I've read, it was the Nottingham yeast. Some people have been able to pitch more yeast, but it's not available in my area.

FG is high, should I bottle?

The short story is I used Nottingham Yeast in my Nut Brown Ale. There are a lot of posts regarding Nottingham, and this lot number was problematic. Anyway, my FG is 1.020, and it’s been that way for a week. (I started this batch two weeks ago) My FG should be 1.010-1.016. Should I bottle...

    Nottingham Yeast

Thanks for the advice, but I should have mentioned that it’s been consistently at 72 F.

    Nottingham Yeast

I’m almost embarrassed to write this, but since I have several posts on this subject I’ll continue. My SG was 1.060, and as I’ve written, my Nottingham started very slow. My Satellite Fermentation Bottle reached 1.012 in seven days. I opened my brew bucket, and the Krausen...

    Nottingham Yeast

Besides sharing our bad experience using Nottingham, is there someone we can contact to take this to the next level? I don’t know how my beer is going to turn out, but most of you are very experienced. It would be a shame if our investment goes down the drain due to inferior ingredients.

    Nottingham Yeast

68 hours and I finally have a consistent bubble. It’s not going to blow the top off of the airlock, but I know it’s fermenting. I took a gravity reading from my satellite bottle. My SG was 1.060, and it went to 1.030 overnight. All I can do is hope it’s okay

    Nottingham Yeast

I’m new to brewing, and this is only my third batch. The first two were fantastic! This kit included Nottingham. The lot number isn’t totally legible, and I can’t read the first numbers. It does end in 110V. The Exp. Date is 01-2011. (Sounds familiar) I pitched at 75 F, and my SG came...
