Fermenting a Dunkelweizen - when to bottle?

I open ferment my Hefeweizen and bottle after the krausen falls around day 10 or 11.

Going from three vessel propane to Electric All in one

I have two Mash & Boil units where I would mash in one and sparge in the other. Recently I realized that the grain basket will fit in my Anvil fermenter. So now I heat my full volume of water and then put my sparge water in a cooler to keep it warm, then batch sparge in the fermenter for about...

Fast solution for using IC pre-chiller for 5 gallons lager?

I do it with all my beers, lagers and ales. With zero issues. Put the lid on your fermenter, you don’t have to seal it, while it cools then pitch your yeast when it reaches your fermentation temperature.

Going from my old, simple set up to something more "modern", opinions?

All AIO units do the same thing, it’s just how many bells and whistles you want to pay for. Best advice I can give is to buy what you can afford and learn how to use it. Don’t ask “what is the best one” because 99% of the replies will be “this is the best one because it is what I own.” I have...

Fast solution for using IC pre-chiller for 5 gallons lager?

Stop overthinking this. Chill as far as you can with your ground water then put it in your fermentation chamber to cool to your fermentation temperature then pitch the yeast.

    Getting Started Kegging

Kegging is great but don’t let it lure you into drinking green beer.

    It’s just unfair!

You started drinking it too soon. Remember how old it is, brew another batch then wait this long to begin to drink your next batch.

    A Brewmaster

Best piece of advice I can give you is to ignore YouTube and these forums for awhile. You don’t know what you don’t know. With experience you will figure out what steps you can add, change or eliminate from your own brewing process. Next, take notes on everything you do, beginning with an...

    I'm about to give up.

I also tried to brew a Hefeweizen, using all the tricks, like what I drank while was stationed in Germany. I finally figured it out, took some to my old drinking buddy from Germany and he said "Now THAT's the taste I've been missing." The two things that got me there are Lallemand Munich...

    OG/SG very low

Most recipes you buy require a sparge to reach the stated OG. Why? Less grain required which reduces the cost of the recipe and lowers shipping costs because the packaging is lighter. Your options: 1. Accept the lower OG, 2. Sparge or 3. Add 10-20% more grain.

Beer tastes good BEFORE bottling, bad after..???

Forget the dishwasher. Use a bottle brush in a drill. I can clean, rinse and sanitize a batch of bottles in less than an hour. And I know they are clean.

Why is my fermentation so slow?

Let the yeast do its job.
