Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Got a question for everyone watching this thread. I built a single tier wooden Brew rig, for those of you who have done that, how do you fireproof the Interiors of your burn area?

    Beginner Rig

At that price point, I would advise Craigslist or your local variant. A good boil kettle can run 200+, so you are going to have to look into used equipment. If you are willing to be patient, you can cobble Keggles together over time for a low overall cost. A immersion chiller is a must for AG...

What's my O.G. suppose to be?

You're reading the sound about right, but just remember used as biology, and no one he is just going to perform exactly the same all the time out of midpoint.

    Inkbird 308 and conical

So I just got an Inkbird controller and am getting a Fermwrap for my 7.5 gallon conical. I have tried to find an answer to this, but how have you gotten the temp probe into the fermenter? I am reflexing to drilling a small hole in my air lock stopper, but am concerned about sealant issues. Any...

    $9 Copper Sparge Arm DIY

This looks fantastic. Do you think if you angled the holes you might be able to get a sprinkler type action/rotation? Just looking into even water distribution.

    Temperature Control Suggestions

Thanks much. My conical is about 4.5 feet tall. I was looking around and found that the cooling jacket is getting made for conicals now. I saw an old forum post where someone Jimmy rigged one, but does anyone have recent experience with it?

    Temperature Control Suggestions

So I have a 7.5 gallon conical fermenter and just picked up a fermwrap and Inkbird controller. This is fine for the winter but I am looking forward to warmer temperatures and trying to think of beat options for cooling during fermentation. Any good ideas below $200?

    Beginner Kit + What equipment

I would jump on that. I am in the Pacific Northwest and Craigslist is the place to be when you are looking to pick up any new equipment. People stop brewing all the time and you can get stuff at a steal for the future.

Better for DIY Kegerator: Chest Freezer or Upright Freezer?

Just from a tool standpoint I went with a chest freezer. I didn't want to have to drill four holes through the door of an upright and buy all the tools required for that. That being said, I have had to become quite the handyman in the last year .

    Chest freezer tips?

Wrap vs pad, I think at some point you are just talking about energy efficiency as well. A wrap is going to be more controlled than a pad under the carboy because of how you are addressing the heat source. What I would offer is a heat source in a central location to address the ambient...

    IPA Qs

The primary to secondary debate is a long and extensive one based , in part, on clarification of beer. Of course, when transferring out of your bucket (which I used for many years) you introduce additional oxygen into the mix that can affect flavor, but I would argue that under most...

    Brew Challenge For a Newbie

All grain brewing when moving from extract, that's a challenge. Although I will agree with many other comments here. Temperature control for fermentation, making sure everything is properly sanitized, figuring out the right point to pull out your bottle from the filler, ensuring you don't end up...

    What are you drinking now?

Widmer Brrr and Ninkasi Sleigh'r . Then I got an imperial IPA that I get to keg next week

Could use some help with a christmas beer recipe

The spice addition at 10 and while cooling is what I have found best. I tend to use crstelized ginger in mine. Just like what it offers in terms of flavor profile.

Home grown cascade hops, little flavour, options to fix?

Overwatering can do it too. You want to water enough and provide enough nutrients to grow, but don't overwater. It can minimalize flavor as the plants don't have to work as hard to establish root systems. Be sure to include a good bed of nitrogen at the beginning of the growing season and check...

Collar, wood choice, insulation, where to begin?

I just got done doing one of these with information cobbled from all over the web. Here is how I worked it out. 1) So, what type of wood? Non pourous would be best. However, I used pallet wood (2 by 4) then stained and treated it with polyurethane 2) Do I make one collar that sits on the...
