    CO2 Question

That's what I was hoping for. I checked again and after a couple of hours it seems to be holding steady right now. Guess I'll just RDWHAHB and see what happens.

    CO2 Question

I just filled my first keg today!!:ban: I have a question about the CO2 tank....I have it in the fridge with the keg and I'm not sure if this is normal....When I first opened the cylinder, the gauge on the tank side said it was in the full range, no problems. It's been going for a few hours...

    Wyeast Packs

Basically, the amount of yeast. The regular smack packs are made with enough yeast that, theoretically, they can be pitched directly into the wort. The 'propogator' packs are used for making starters.

    Kegerator CO2 Line Question

Finnaly got all the parts for my kegerator conversion today. :ban: I'm in the process of getting it set up (pics to follow soon, hopefully). Anyway, I got a question about the CO2 lines: I bought a two keg conversion kit from kegkits.com. It came with one regulator and a tee fitting to split...

Anyone in Orlando who kegs - A little help

I've never recieved the best service from them, either. Always seem like they really don't want to be there. Like everyone else, I wish there was another place around here for supplies. I had actually thought about calling them about the CO2 cylinder fills, but then based on the service I've...

Anyone in Orlando who kegs - A little help

I actually get the majority of my grains from AHS. I just made the jump into AG and I like the fact that you can have the grains all packaged together. That way I can just dump them all into the mash at once. Not really a big time saver, but when you're dealing with a big grain bill, it's nice...

Anyone in Orlando who kegs - A little help

Usually, the only thing I got to Hearts for is my yeast. I get most of my other stuff from AHS but I just don't feel comfortable shipping yeast in this heat!! Occasionally, I'll pick up an extra hose or something, but I looked at their hops the first time I was there and noticed they were...

Anyone in Orlando who kegs - A little help

I just ordered my kegerator conversion kit (anxiously awaiting the UPS guy) and I need to find out if there's a good place in the Orlando area to get the CO2 tank filled. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Sanitation question...

I think you should be okay...I typically do the same thing. What I do first is take a paper towel and dip it in the sanitizer and wipe the counter down with it. Next, I lay out a few more paper towels and move everything out of the sanitizer and place it, still wet on the paper towels. This way...

Yeast Starter in an Erlmeyer Flask

I've never done it this way but...the flask I bought from my LHBS store came with instructions that said to mix the DME in warm water to dissolve it, add it to water in the flask and then bring it to a boil in the microwave. I always just boil it all in a seperate pot and then add...

    Priming with DME-How much?

I'll be bottling an American Wheat next weekend. I've got about 1/2 pound of wheat DME (Munton's 55% wheat/45% barley) that I have no plans for in the immediate future. I figure I'd experiment with priming my bottles with the DME just to see how it turns out. My question is how much DME should I...

    Noob yeast wild pitch

I use a turkey baster. Throw it in the sanitizer with everything else. Once everything is transferred, I use the turkey baster to get enough wort for my hydrometer tube and then pitch the yeast.

    Converting extract to AG?

I'm getting ready to make the jump to AG very soon. I'm in the process of getting the mashing equipment all put together and what not. Question is this- I have a couple of extract recipes that are REALLY tasty. Is there a method of converting the amount of extract in a given recipe to what...

    Rubbermaid cooler question

Quick question regarding the rubbermaid coolers for use in mashing- I just scored one off craigslist for $10. It's only a 5 gallong, though. Will this work for mashing enough grains for a 5 gal batch or will this only be good to do pm's. I'm really looking to make the jump into AG, but if this...

Replacing 2-prong cord with grounded cord

As far as which wire is common, I couldn't say for certain without actually seeing it. I would recommend calling an appliance repair shop and seeing if they can dig up some specs on the unit (see if you can find a mom and pop type place, they're usually more helpful). As far as adding a ground...

    First Brew Day.

Leave the cap on!! You want to leave everything alone. With it being slowly released there is a nice layer of CO2 in the fermenter helping to protect your beer from picking up bacteria and wild yeasts!! You're in the hardest part of the hobby...waiting!! Congrats on the first brew!! :mug: Let...
