    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

Bottled up the Wee Heavy today, tasted fantastic (IMHO). Came out to 8.1% ABV... now just praying those little yeasties have enough left in them to carb it up in time :)

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

The Wee Heavy is currently Fermenting... Hopefully it comes out good. The wort tasted fantastic. My only hope is that it carbs up in time. I don't have a system to do force carbing, so all my stuff is bottle conditioned. Provided my FG hit's where it should, I should be around 8.7% ABV, might...

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

Sounds like fun. I'm in. I'll brew Scottish Wee Heavy. I was thinking a Biere De Garde, but not sure it would be ready (carbed) by January...

    Vanilla Porter Recipe Thoughts

Thanks... I figured I would just try it and find out what it's like, but figured some of the more talented types on here might be able to point out some simple stuff, like you did. I didn't really realize that that may be too much of a late hops addition. Special Roast was described as being a...

    Vanilla Porter Recipe Thoughts

I've been thinking about trying to make my own recipes and I thought I might try and make a vanilla porter. I've mostly been reading descriptions of various grains and malts and learning the flavors they impart, and what their typical use is. I've been tried finding some of the more popular...

    Brewing software for ipad

I have BeerSmith Mobile for my iPad and it works well enough. I've also used BrewPal. I honestly like them both. BrewPal is a quite a bit simpler, but you can still create recipes, on it etc. BeerSmith has a lot more configurability, with regards to your equipment, etc. You don't need to be...

    Den: Beer Exchange

Hi all, Just started brewing in July (jumped in with both feet and have been doing all grain since the beginning). If anyone plans on doing a Christmas exchange, I'd be interested in getting in on this too.

    Favorite Homebrew Shop in Denver

Two places I get most of my stuff are Beer and Wine at Home: http://www.beerathome.com/ and Barely Haven http://barleyhaven.com/ The former has a nicer atmosphere but both have pretty cool people.

    Has the Krausen Fallen?

Based on my experiences, the "high mark" of the Krausen is how high all the "bubbly foam" was at one point in your fermenter, which means it was probably quite active at one point. It's now fallen back to the level in your photo and is finishing up your fermentation. Only way to know for sure...

    AustinHomeBrew.com Sale suggestions

I just ordered the Belgian Quad kit... We'll see how it goes, but It's going to be quite a while before I can offer any opinions on it.

    White Labs Hefeweizen IV Odors

Hah... Perhaps not... Most of my Hefewiezen experiences are from the local microbews, and a few like ShockTop and Blue Moon (not even sure if they count as real "German Hefeweizens" or not). I've not given up on it. I was just concerned with how strong the odor was, during peak fermentation...

    White Labs Hefeweizen IV Odors

Hey All, So I've started my 2nd batch of homebrew ever, and decided to brew a Hefeweizen, using White Labs Hefeweizen IV. My first was an Oatmeal Stout which is currently bottle conditioning. Both batches were all grain (my friend wouldn't let me start out with extracts, and insisted I go...

    What are you drinking now?

Just had a "False Summit" from Elevation Brewery (Poncha Springs, CO). Probably my new favorite beer. Bottling my very first batch of Home Brew (oatmeal stout) this weekend, so I'm a few weeks out until I get to enjoy that.
