Am I doing something wrong or am I expecting too much?
I brewed for the first time in a couple of years today and really thought it was going to go smoothly. Instead, it was horrible. I overshot my mash temperature which set the stage for the rest of the day. It got even worse when I moved the...
I'm finally getting around to asking a follow-up question. I have a mental block when it comes to some network stuff, so forgive me if the answer is obvious.
I access CraftBeerPi by typing in the URL of the Raspberry Pi followed by :8000
Does that mean I shouldn't have to change anything to...
It's been quite a while since I set my system up (it sounds like I've got the same setup as you do), but you need to download the heating element plugins and do a PID auto tune. I can't remember off the top of my head which plugin gets you where you want to be, but once you get it dialed in, it...
Yeah, I don't "see" anything. The darn thing is spotless. No spots, stains, or discoloration anywhere; just a pungent odor. It's not an off-putting smell like rotting food or dead animal, it's just a smell that has a little bite to it.
I noticed a bit of a pungent smell coming from my mash tun, so I cleaned it with OxyClean, followed by two rounds of hot water rinse. It now smells more pungent than before (or maybe I just think it does).
I'm afraid to use anything else to clean the kettle because I don't want to taint future...
@BrunDog
Here's what I see:
120 VAC (Pumps and Pi) Side:
120 VAC through an On/Off switch into a DC Power Supply.
The 120 VAC also runs from the On/Off switch into the Commons of a 2 Relay Module. The Normally Open contacts of the 2 Relay Module are connected to the 2 Pump outlets.
From the DC...
@BrunDog - I've got a Hosehead that has served me pretty well, but I REALLY like what you've done with BruControl and have been considering upgrading for a while. Is it really as simple as swapping the Pi for an ESP-32? The only thing that's been holding me back is the investment in more...
I know the surge when starting the compressor is greater than the crrent it draws while running, but the compressor's feed doesn't pass through this fuse. The only thing running through the fuse is that 5V power supply. The power supply is feeding the relay board and the ESP8266.
I need a little help - I'm coming to my wit's end.
I built myself a little controller box with a power supply and relay board and it worked great once. The second time I used it, it blew the 5A fuse in the power switch (this little guy: URBEST Inlet Module Plug 5A Fuse Switch Male Power Socket...
Not to sound like a nerk, but are you sure everything is wired correctly?
I have the same wattage elements and tuned using practically the same volume of water using the default settings and came out with some very serviceable settings.
I can't help thinking something is either wired wrong or...
I made this several weeks ago and was pretty excited to taste it. Overall, it's pretty darn good, but I notice an oil like aftertaste. I thought that maybe it was the rhubarb, but I kept a gallon separate from the keg without any rhubarb and it tastes the same. I used frozen strawberries.
Any...
I think it's PWMSimple or something like that.
I tried a different boil logic the last time I brewed and was really happy with it. IllIfire up my controller and let you know what I used.
I've also noticed that every time iveI run PID Auto tune I've come up with pretty different results.
That's exactly what it is!
I'm using a fermwrap for the heat in a Haier wine fridge. I wouldn't think any of this would come close to blowing the fuse. It lasted 4 days, at least....
A funny thing happened to my ESP8266 controller last night:
I started fermenting a beer Sunday using Fermentrack for the first time. Everything was going well until last night. I added a small fan to the chamber around dinner time since I figured it would help things even out inside the chamber...
