    Super easy tap handles

Thanks for posting this. Can't wait to update my tap handles now.

    vermont IPA lag time

That's a great yeast imo. I think I had an approximate 24 hr lag time on my IIPA. Fermented at 64 during active fermentation, then ramped to 72 over the remaining 14 days. IIPA was a huge hit at our party yesterday.

    Different yeasts for an IPA

Vermont IPA yeast GY054 by GigaYeast is a pretty good one. Just did an IIPA with it and results are awesome.

FG always lower than what BeerSmith says it should be...

Does this apply to all styles that you brew? Do you trust your thermometer? That's typically the first thing I check if I'm not hitting my expected/predicted numbers.

    yeast bay vermont ale review

Oops. Misread the thread title. I used Vermont IPA yeast (Gigayeast) not yeast bay. Temp range for IPA yeast goes a little lower.

    yeast bay vermont ale review

Made a Heady Topper clone from the massive thread here on HBT. Mashed at 149/150 and fermented at 64 ramping to 71 over 2 weeks before dry hopping. OG 1.079 and FG 1.020. Was hoping it would come down a little more but I'm not upset with it. Hydro samples smelled and tasted great. Might take...

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

My vessels are less than 18in to the pump, and I don't notice any more priming issues now then when I had them positioned further away.

    Best Thermometer

+1 thermapen on sale. It's now the boss of all my other thermometers. A quick calibration before brew day and we're good to go.

Anyone have experience using a hop slurry to dry hop?

I'm slightly confused. Are you saying that you added the slurry and shook it up after primary fermentation was over? If so, that seems a little risky (oxidation) to me. If it worked for you then great, but I might opt for a multi-stage dry hop schedule before I go shaking fermented beer.

Problem with off flavors in JUST my IPAs. Going to test but would this work.

It's a lifetime supply in one bag. Works great too.

failing to hit final gravity levels

How far off are we talking? Two point high? Ten points high? Are you reading final gravity with refractometer or hydrometer? Lastly, you mentioned fermentation temps but then said you don't have a ferm chamber. Are your ferm temps beer temp or liquid temp?

Anyone used whiskey yeast for a big beer

+1 for trying brewers yeast first. How big are you talkin'? I've had good luck with different yeasts getting me over 10%, but I haven't gone over 12 myself (yet).

    Suck back..

+1 solid stopper for me. Learned that the hard way when I cold crashed with blowoff hose still in bucket of starsan. Ended up with a layer of starsan on top of the cold beer. I've also had suck back from both types of air locks. Solid stopper has solved it for me. My 2 cents.

Wyeast 1217-PC West Coast IPA source?

I got around to brewing this. Just finished primary and hydro sample smelled and tasted amazing. Very similar to Stone IPA in my opinion. This yeast is awesome. I'll be definitely saving the slurry for future batches.

    Lagering in keg question

+1 lager in the keg. Added benefit of getting to "sample" it as it ages. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Home Brew mobile app

Electric Fermentation Heater vs. Brew Belt

+1 This is what I have in my fermentation chamber, and it works great. I can only put it on one carboy at a time, but I brew mostly ales with similar germ temp needs so no biggie.
