Diaceytl rest, is it time yet?

Thanks again. Do you guys recommend that I gradually raise the temp, or just throw the carboy in the room at room temp?

Diaceytl rest, is it time yet?

Hi, I'm brewing up my first lager, using one pack of wyeast 2124 bohemian lager yeast with an original gravity. I pitched the yeast 9 days ago, but signs of fermentation didn't start until 7 days ago. My gravity reading right now is at 1.017 and the project gravity is supposed be right...

    Time for a diacetyl rest?

just out of curiosity, if you had to put a guess on home may days you waited to to the D-rest, what would it be?

    Time for a diacetyl rest?

I'm going through the same process with my first lager at about 6 days fermenting. How much airlock activity do you have? Mine is a lower gravity one 1.040 OG and target FG is 1.010. I used one pack Wyeast Bohemian yeast which took 2 days to get started, so in reality, I've only seen activity...

How much of an improvement do you notice going to all grain? What about a mini-mash? I've been at this since August, and can see myself making the next step soon.

Thanks guys, I'm still somewhat of a newbie, but my brews are getting pretty damn good. Eventually I'd like to move on to all-grain.

First Lager with Wyeast 2124 questions.

how long do you think it will take to go down to 1.020? The original gravity is 1.040 and the target is under 1.010 from what I remember

First Lager with Wyeast 2124 questions.

Ok, I only pitched one packet of the yeast, so I guess this my first mistake, but is only a 5 gal recipe. Should I add another one or a dry packet of Saflager perhaps?

First Lager with Wyeast 2124 questions.

This is my first post. I have seen so many discrepancies as to the proper way of fermenting a lager. I did up the True Brew Pilsner Kit, substituting the muntons ale yeast for the Wyeast 2124 Bohemian Lager yeast. I pitched the yeast at 60 F in a 6 gal better bottle and left it at room...

Hi everyone. I have been brewing since August and found this site to be a good resource for learning and improving. Lately I have been doing mostly clone-extract recipe kits that I buy online. I look forward to learning from you all, as well as exchanging ideas (when I improve some). -losman26
