New Stir Plate, Starter, Foam Control

Quick question, I am making a 2 liter starter for an Irish Red I plan to brew this weekend. I added foam control to the boil when making the starter. This will be my first starter with a stir plate and I am paranoid about leaving it on in case it foams over when I am at work. After my boil over...

Poll: Which type of a brewer are you?

It depends on how many bills are left to pay so disposable income dictates. If uncle Sam didn't keep my tax return this year I would have definitely converted my magic chef 7.2 freezer to a 6 tap keezer and a conical fermenter.

Racked to secondary and my beer stinks

Is this your first time using the yeast or did you pitch onto a yeast cake? What kind of smell are you picking up, sulfur, vinegar etc?

Mother of all BrewDays... 14 hours 2 batches 1 transfer and 1 bottle

That is awesome. That many kegs at today's prices can almost suffice as a retirement plan. I remember paying 30- 35 out the door last time I bought one. 2 5 gallons and one 2.5 gallon keg is what I have right now. Time to make some friends :mug:

    I think I'm infected.

I agree with others on this post, just wait it out and taste it. Look at it this way, cant taste worst than Corona

    My first all grain!

It will help if you fill your cooler with hot water to preheat it. That will help hold your temperature. The mash temperature looks pretty low in my opinion as well. 150-152 would be good

Mother of all BrewDays... 14 hours 2 batches 1 transfer and 1 bottle

I have one of those magic chef freezers that people fit 6 cornys in with a collar, just havent gotten around to converting it. One thing I remember from my old brew days... you never run out of things to spend your money on with this hobby.

Mother of all BrewDays... 14 hours 2 batches 1 transfer and 1 bottle

I didnt mind bottling the high gravity brews since I like to stockpile and let them age. After yesterday I can tell you I am more than temped to stock up on kegs and just go that route

Mother of all BrewDays... 14 hours 2 batches 1 transfer and 1 bottle

Took the day off from work yesterday to brew! Got to try out my 10 gallon round cooler MLT with a B3 false bottom as well as my new barley crusher and everything was great. The day started at 8AM milling grain for the Belgian Wit and preparing all the equipment. Fast forward to 10PM. All in...

    First Post on HBT!!!

I happen to live close to Morebeer in Riverside. I went in and bought 3 sacks of base malts a couple weeks back. Went on Monday to buy some hoses and came out with an assortment of special malts and other small items. The staff there is great. Hopefully I can make some time this weekend to start...

    First Post on HBT!!!

Its been 2 years since I brewed and I got back into it 2 weeks ago... 2 batches in already. Last time I brewed you could still pick up corny kegs for $35-$40. The good news is I have some hops in the ground from last time around so I will definitely make use of them again. Currently building...
