Can you Brew It recipe for Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale

Thanks, Eric, for posting this. Makes for easy reference. :) I brewed this up with a tiny twist on the base grain since I couldn't get the GW Pale Ale Malt. ~3 gallon batch 3.5 lbs 2Row 3 lbs Maris Otter 8 oz Crystal 60 3.25 oz Carapils Wyeast 1968 Cascade @5.5% AA .5oz @70 .7oz @30 .7oz @5...

Full 4 gallon mash possible + water =5g?

Agree with TrubDog. I do 3-4 gallon batches. Sure you get a bit less beer, but you get to brew more often. :)

    Holy Efficiency!

I get all my grain from my LHBS and use their mill. I will ask them, but I really doubt they would make adjustments without posting something to let the regulars know.

    Holy Efficiency!

Thanks guys. I have yet to purchase brewsmith but it sounds like a worthwhile investment. Pappers, I was spot on with my volumes and I did adjust for wort temp. Technically it really shouldn't matter if you base your efficiency off preboil or original gravity, should it? You should come...

    Holy Efficiency!

So today I brewed my second all grain batch, using my cooler mash tun for the 3rd time (had one PM before my first AG). My 2 previous mashes had efficiencies of 67% and 71%. So for my third time doing a mash, I figured i would shape my grain bill around 70% efficiency. Here is my recipe...

    Saison BBD Saison Furtif

Absolutely great recipe Cat. Such a great beer. And the first that I've made that I've been 100% happy with. Thanks for sharing! :D

    Attenuation too high?

Just as a follow-up, this beer turned out pretty good but most bottles are pretty over carbed. Not gushers by any means but most of the taste is overtaken by carbonation upon first pour. I used 99 grams of corn sugar for this 4 gallon batch, shooting for 2.5 volumes. Either this 1332 yeast is...

    Saison BBD Saison Furtif

Bottled successfully yesterday and FG was 1.006 after 21 days. A little higher than I expected based on others' results but the taste is phenomenal. 3711 rocks! My OG was 1.058 which puts me at 6.9% ABV which is pretty much what I was shooting for. Since this isn't quite as "Furtif" as the...

How to Balance Malt and Hops

Check out Jamil's show on the Brewing network. He did an hour show on each of the BJCP styles. Its excellent. http://thebrewingnetwork.com/shows/The-Jamil-Show/Page-15

    Saison BBD Saison Furtif

I plan to bottle this one tomorrow. I'm planning on using about 140 grams of corn sugar for priming my 5.5 gallons. According to the various priming calculators out there, that is about 2.5 volumes but I trust these things about as far as I can throw them (assuming they're massive calculating...

    From great to sour

I've got a big ol' bin of PBW. Do I just soak everything in that? When scrubbing is it best to just use the PBW solution or some sort of detergent/sudsy stuff?

    From great to sour

So my second batch was a very simple American Pale Ale that tasted great after 2 weeks in the bottle. I noticed it was a bit over carbed but I figured that I had maybe just added a bit too much priming sugar (4 gallon batch, 99 grams of corn sugar). However every bottle I've opened (about 5)...

Sharing my simple summer pale ale recipe

Finally had my first taste of this beer tonight and I love it. I think the 1332 yeast was a great choice. Things I would change: - Up the bittering hops, maybe to .75 oz @60 and @20 - Up the dry hop to 2 or 3 oz. This beer is all about the amarillo and I don't get enough in nose or flavor. -...

    Saison BBD Saison Furtif

If I wanted to slightly cut down the ABV on this brew, would it be best to cut out the sugar addition?

Late extract addition with full boil?

Would you have to rethink your bittering hop amounts due to the lower gravity boil?
