    Brew Calander

Check out: http://nielsenhome.net/drupal/node/44 You can alter it to suit your needs but it's a very good base.

So you guys think I'm doomed on this one? Give it to me straight doc :( If I need a new freezer they are all going on sale now so it seems like the time to do it.

I got it used on Craigslist so no chance for a warranty claim...

    Chest Freezer Kegerator Build

I wanted to just touch on this too... If you start out with foam and keep pouring on top of it you will just get more foam. And 5oz. of liquid which turns in to foam can turn into a pitcher full of foam or more. So no matter how you slice it, it's wasted beer. But if you're pouring without foam...

    My farking chest freezer....

I was afraid of this. I have heard that converted freezers might have a shorter lifespan due to corrosion of the coolant lines due to condensation... That would suck.

    Chest Freezer Kegerator Build

Do you have the kegerator under the bar or is it downstairs? How long of a beer line run do you have? I made a keezer with a tower right on top and had problems with foaming. I made a blower box and things are good now. I'll see if I can snap some pics when I get home later.

    My farking chest freezer....

The freezer is a few years old, I bought it new. I'm not really sure what brand it is but I'd say its about 15 cubic feet. I cleaned it up and painted it to look pretty and I ended up wiping all the writing off the side of the freezer with Acetone (the writing included the hot-->cold scale near...

    My farking chest freezer....

Hey guys, I posted not too long ago about how my keezer stopped maintaining temps. I thought I had the problem solved but I guess I was wrong. It runs through a Johnson A419. I have the temp probe dangling the airspace on the hump side of the freezer. It's holding at 40f and won't get colder...

    Cellar or Drink??

Drink it and if you like it find someone on here who might be willing to ship you another bottle or 2 for cellaring. Best of both worlds!

    Chest Freezer Kegerator Build

Check out: http://kegman.net/balance.html and: http://www.kegkits.com/remote_keg.htm With that long of a run I would think you would definitely want some form of cooling for the lines. I would leave the lines loose in the PVC and insulate the PVC on the outside really well. Get a fan...

    Green Tea beer recipe

How about soaking/infusing some green tea in Midori for about 2 weeks. Maybe 2-4 ounces of green tea leaves in something like 16 oz. Midori, then pour the whole thing into secondary. I've never done this, just a thought. The Midori would make a nice honeydew green tea addition to a light beer...

Harvesting yeast in sterile urine sample containers? (no, really!)

This is a great idea! I work in the medical field too and I can't believe I never thought of it. The only problem I can see is with pressure buildup in the containers if you don't fab up some sort of airlock or blowoff. Who knows how much more collected yeast might continue to produce co2.

    Kegging Questions

    1) Yes 2) Usually it's the lid o-ring. Try repositioning the lid and kinda pull up on it as you lock it in place. A little lube on the o-ring is good here. Hit it with co2 at a high level, at least 20psi, to "force" the lid upwards and into place. 3) Not always. If the o-rings are wet...

oak aging & serving in a single corny

It certainly can't hurt. Anything you can do to protect the fermented beer from oxygen exposure is good. When you rack into the keg make sure your racking tube reached all the way to the bottom of the keg. This prevents turbulence and splashing which keeps oxygen off the beer.

    Pliny

Just boil what you can. Might get another opinion on this, but it's better to boil less wort and get a good vigorous boil than to have a weak boil with more volume. Rack to primary and add cool tap water to make up between 5 and 5.5 gallons total volume. RDWHAHB.

oak aging & serving in a single corny

Shouldn't be a problem at all. Those cubes are good and drunk :ban: So yeah, ain't nothin' nasty left on those cubes to hurt your beer. I would just pour the oak and whiskey right into the corny. Just make sure that whatever you use to remove the muslin bag after aging is sanitized properly.

    Made a Brewing Calendar... suggestions?

Yeah, good call on the Pilsner. I actually have one lagering now that I'm going to keg in April. I built a fermentation chamber out of an old dorm fridge so I'm good to go on temperature control any time of year. Thanks for the input.
