    Wyeast 3724 Belgian Saison Stall

I find it interesting that higher temperature, agitation, and open fermentation all work to decrease the solubility of CO2 in the fermenting beer. Many site one of these factors as either preventing or ending the stall. Depending on the Fast Ferment test process, it could also work to decrease...

    Over sized fermenter

why purge O2 in a fermenter? yeast need oxygen at beginning of fermentation

    Over sized fermenter

I think it was from Brew Like a Monk, but when Trappists switched to conical fermenters they use roughly 1/2 the space deliberately

    Brewbuilt IceMaster Max 4

okay thanks...from one of your posts it talked about all pumps running on start up. I am currently only cooling 2 fermenters, so I guess I just hook the outputs back to the input then turn the temperature up as you mentioned?

    Brewbuilt IceMaster Max 4

I'm looking to get a max 4 to go with my spike flex fermenters. I obviously need the coils and a thermowell. What type and size lines do I need? Are the Spike quick disconnects worth $15/set.

    Temperature Control

I am looking to get a BrewBuilt™ IceMaster Max 4 Glycol Chiller for use on my flex and flex plus using Spike temperature control coils. I am looking for feedback from any users of this? I am also deciding whether to get the quick disconnects. Also type and size of hoses required? Any feedback...

    Wyeast 3724 Belgian Saison Stall

I brewed 3 back to back to back Saisons with Dupont yeast and no stall using an open fermentation with tape instead of an airlock https://www.maltosefalcons.com/tech/guide-saisons-and-saison-yeasts

Dry yeast does not require rehydration and also does not require aeration

I typically use liquid however did dry yeast for a friend’s IPA and a Belgian Blonde. No hydration worked fine. As far as oxygenating wort I have a Venturi which uses air going from boil to fermentor so all my beers get that.

    Zombie Dust BJCP

I am brewing a Zombie Dust clone for a friend. (I don't drink bitter beer). I brew Belgians exclusively, but I thought it would be fun to try something different. Anyway, Id like to enter it into our local contest, Brewer's Cup, assuming they hold it. I am also brewing from a kit for the second...

    Introducing… the Spike FLEX!

I would ask what do you get for that $150. is it worth it to you? i got a keg system with a new keg from AIH for $149. if its a yeast dump and a fermentor that wont fit in my fridge I'm gonna say no

    Spike Flex Plus Owners

I open ferment s no worries I have no use for yeast dumping. You see. To believe it is the end all be all to fermentation. I have no idea what you brew. I brew Trappists. Mostly Tripels. They sit on the yeast for 3 weeks and cold crash on the yeast for another 2. They do reasonably well in...

    Belgian Triple -Yeast Starter Question

if the starter says 200 billion cells less date losses to start you would put it in the same starter

true I mean Chimay switched to conicals and now are believed to have a decrease in quality

    Spike Flex Plus Owners

I brew belgians and the monks seem to do okay with horizontal fermentors. The flex allows one to leave the trub in the fermentor easily making for clear beer. Autolysis isn't really a thing for 5 gallon batches in my mind is the cf5 an upgrade, of course. Now you just got wondering if people in...

    Spike Flex Plus Owners

I got a flex when they first came out and got a flex plus at the 20% sale. I top crop yeast so the dump is not important to me. what is important is clarity. I can cold crash the flex/flex+ in my fridge I drain into a mason jar to find clear beer I then use that position to transfer to bottling...

    Kegging Trappists carbonation settings

Thanks for the response My understanding is you are leaving your CO2 at 18-20 psi. Then hooking up your picnic tap when you are read to pour. Do you leave the CO2 at 18-20 when you pour? I also have a picnic tap, btw

    Kegging Trappists carbonation settings

I kegged my first beer recently after years of bottling. I typically carb my Belgians to approximately 3.25. I’m curious what settings people are using to carbonate their Belgians in kegs? Also, do you serve at the same pressure? At 40°F my pressure would be at 20psi. Which seems high for...
