ATTN Bay Area brewers in need of Kegs/tanks

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bfs/2580863305.html This guy has stainless steel kegs and a 50 gallon and 80 gallon tank I only wish I had the setup for. Going to go pick up two of the 15 gallon kegs tomorrow, hopefully :mug:

how long is starsan good for?

I am new to using Starsan. Yes I searched first, sad I feel the need to point that out. I mixed up some Starsan last night and wondering how long before it goes inert. This stuff is so cheap for what you get, but filled up my spray bottle and don't want to waste it just the same.

    whats with the bottle hype?

There's a lot of factors involved. Some people just like the idea of having something on tap and will spend the extra. Just like I like the ability to brew on my brewstand versus the stove top so I spent the extra. Also some people have many opportunities that others do not, being patient and...

After two years of brewing, I finally had a bad batch!

Left to right then, I'm fairly certain Orthodox don't drink much if at all.

    whats with the bottle hype?

Yeah like I said, different strokes for different folks. Positives and negatives both ways...Doesn't work for you but it works for others, and that is ok. And also like already said, the complete opposition to either method is silly or arrogant. This is due to the positives and negatives...

    New Brutus with mods

Wow man that is awesome. You are certainly putting a lot of thought and effort into this and it shows. Can't wait to see the finished product.

    whats with the bottle hype?

And yet it still comes down to preference. While you believe it tastes best one way, not everyone will. You can age in a keg just fine. And many of us perfer the taste of kegged beer in any state. Also some beers are better fresh regardless of bottled or kegged. not to mention other methods of...

    whats with the bottle hype?

400-500 bucks? Here's one for 159: http://morebeer.com/view_product/12015/102298/Basic_Homebrew_Draft_System_-_Pin_Lock Now that IS before tax but the shipping is free. Also have to consider there is a price involved with fillng up the Co2 container....comparable to the priming sugar and...

Considering buying a homemade wort chiller on craigslist... good idea?

Doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the one you saw but it appears to be overly complicated for no apparent reason. For my setup I have two coils hooked up together with one sitting in a bucket of icewater so the hose goes into that one and water is super chilled and then goes through...

    harvest yeast from bottle?

And yeah, "did some research" before posting. Found a ton of threads asking about specifics into the process without anything clear on how to start...hence the post.

    harvest yeast from bottle?

That's a good idea I'll get me a stopper that'll fit the bottle. Thanks Calder.

Ah Sh$t, I Did It Too......

Damn man that sucks but I'm sure it will turn out fine. Worse case senario at least a few should turn out and surely the ones you bottled after the discovery. And hey if nothing else it's certainly something you'll never forget in the future...and I'm more likely to remember now so thank you.

    harvest yeast from bottle?

I am drinking a Commercial Belgian White that comes with a bit of yeast settled in the bottom looking very much like any home brew I've ever seen. Has anyone ever been able to harvest yeast from a commercial brewery bottle before and how did you go about it? I'd love to experiment with it.

    NEW BREWERY NAME, you choose.

Must be the whole exploitation angle. Either Bud or Hosptial Administration...perhaps Politician or News Consultant? The NFL or the Food Network. The Vatican! Hmm...all sorts of opportunities.

    Brewery names--what's your story?

Cenosillicaphobia Brew House is what I'm leaning towards now. Don't want any significance or connection with my area or life just want something to amuse me I don't take it that seriously. Considering shortening that to Ceno Brew House with a definition of Cenosillicaphobia under it. No idea...
