    Anyone have a Fermentasaurus?

Can anyone comment on the durability of the PET plastic? I’m considering the new fermzilla, but my main concern is the plastic. How does it feel? Is it really thin? Does it scratch easily? Does it ding?

$99 PET Conical up to 35 PSI

I’m highly considering the fermzilla as well. Any comments on the durability of the plastic? It looks really thin. Is the PET plastic really easy to scratch?

    Haier 7.1 Keezer

Bringing this thread back! So my wife gave me the ultimatum that if I build a keezer, it has to be a coffin keezer.....until I showed her this build! How is it holding up?? I’m highly considering doing it with a 5.0 cuft freezer. 3 taps should be good for us

    Grainfather!!

Finally got in touch with customer service. They’re sending me a new reset switch. Hopefully it helps

    Grainfather!!

Anyone else have issues with GF customer service? I emailed them 4 days ago. No reply. I’ve been trying to call the US number but it keeps saying the extension is unavailable and that their voicemail is full...

    Grainfather!!

I’ve had the GF for about 3 years too. Haven’t measured the plug/socket but my GF can no longer hold a boil. Heating element keeps tripping. Even when I just try to boil water. I emailed GF but they haven’t replied. Gonna have to give them a call

    Grainfather!!

I’m starting to get annoyed with my GF! Brew day yesterday was annoying asf. Everything was going good up until it was time to bring the wort to a boil. The heating element kept tripping. Tried scraping the bottom over and over again. Ended up pumping wort to a kettle and boiling on my stove...

Other Half Daydream (oat cream IPAs) - all grain clone attempts

How does one go about measuring 92%/5%/3% in terms of grams? Also, is a starter needed?

Kegerator for $69 - too good to be true?

My buddy sent me this after he saw it posted in a homebrew group: https://www.tgmhung.top/collections/best-cooler I was driving when he sent it to me and I’ve been looking for something like this so I jumped on it. It wasn’t until I got home and was like oh ****... Shopify seems legit, the...

    Grainfather!!

Thanks guys! You’ve convinced me to change a few things during my brew process. Since you guys are able to recirc at full speed, have you measured or noticed consistent temps across the grain bed? For awhile my beers kept over attenuating but then I realized my actual mash temps were much lower...

    Grainfather!!

I’ve been conditioning my grains too. It definitely helps. I’m going to add more rice hulls next time to see if it helps with the recirculation. You don’t have a supplemental ss screen over your bottom plate? Any issues with small bits of grains making their way through the bottom plate?
  13. C

    Grainfather!!

Ok cool, thanks! So you don’t have an additional screen over the bottom plate? I can’t imagine having the recirc on full blast lol. It overflows already with the valve barely open. I’m thinking my ss screen on the bottom is restricting the flow. What’s your mill gap set to? Next batch I’m...

    Grainfather!!

How much of the rice hulls are you adding? I’ve been doing 4oz. Might have to try 8oz next time. Also, how fast is your recirc during the mash? I have to keep my valve barely open, otherwise it will overflow. Do you have a ss screen on top of the bottom plate as well? I’ve been using the screen...

    Grainfather!!

I have wheat and oats and rice hulls in the recipe. Sparge is slow but usually never a problem. Maybe I need to reduce grain to water ratio. I currently have it set to 1.70qts/lb. This was fine when I brewed my Belgian blonde (got 85% efficiency) but my NEIPAs are always in the 65% range
  16. C

    Grainfather!!

Do you guys think it’s possible that too fine of a crush could lead to efficiency issues? Currently my mill is at 0.032 and I’m having issues circulating throughout the mash. It seems like in order to not flood the overflow pipe, I have to barely open the valve. It’s open so little that it...

    WLP066 London Fog

Here's a pic of my NEIPA and it was my first time using London Fog. I've only used Burlington, 1318, and london fog so far. This is by far my favorite! OG was 1.072 and FG was 1.015...so about 78% attenuation with a mash temp of 156*. It attenuated more than I wanted, so now I'm wondering if the...

4th NE IPA with 1318 - why am I getting sulfur this time??

I typically add 1/2 tsp or so of yeast nutrient in my boils. I’m suspecting that my 1 liter starter was not enough for the batch. Definitely going back to 2l starters now

4th NE IPA with 1318 - why am I getting sulfur this time??

Just wanted to update you guys... This ended up being one of my best batches! I’m really glad I decided to wait it out and not dump the batch. I waited about 21 days until I racked to the keg. At that point, the sulfur smell was completely diminished. I had a bunch of my buddies try the beer...
