Trim Sidearms on 2nd yr. hops?

I've got second year Columbus that have sidearms growing all over the bine and was wondering if they should be trimmed. I've tried training some of them but it's starting to get a little crowded. Should I trim some at the top? Bottom? All of them?

Tasting Little Sumpin Sumpin: A tale of dispair

I've never experienced a basil flavor in LSS. I, too, wonder if the beer came from Petaluma or Chicago. If it's from the windy city, maybe they're still getting their ducks in row. Petaluma water comes from the Russian River watershed so maybe it's a difference in water chemistry. Maybe it was...

Anything Similar to Pliny the Elder?

Pliny the Elder(and Younger) are both wonderful beers. Waiting six hours for the Younger is a great experience and I highly recommend it. You're missing out if you can't have them fresh. Back to the original post, I was pleasantly surprised by Auburn Alehouse's Isotope PU-240 Imperial IPA...

I don't have any experience with the 3711 strain; I'm using WLP 565. Brad Smith - Brewing Saison Beer with Nathan Smith http://youtu.be/c5J_sPo3aj0 I found this video very helpful in general when it came to brewing a saison. Nathan Smith talks about yeast towards the middle of the interview...
