Vacuum seal and freeze dry yeast

Does anyone know if I can divide a 500 gram pack of dry yeast into five 100 gram packs, vacuum seal them, and store them in my freezer? A 500 gram pack is the same price as ten 11,5 gram packs, and therefor way more economical...

    Mixing beer

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has mixed two batches of the same type of beer? My problem is that I have a keg that's 25 gallon, and I've filled this with a pale ale that was finnished fermenting and coldcrashed a couple of days ago. Next weekend I need to brew the same beer again (don't ask...

    Diacetyl rest and fermentation

I have a copper coil in my HLT, and i rinsed through the system with starsan (as recommended). But I...

    Big batch temperature control

So maybe I should just cool the wort to about 48 F and pitch the yeast, leave at 48 F ambient temp, and bump the ambient temp up to 55 F after a week, and then after another week bump it up to 65 for a diacetyl rest for 3-4 days before cold crashing. Maybe speed lagering is not such a good idea...

    Big batch temperature control

Hi, I'm new to this forum and also a rookie brewer. I am attempting a "speed-lager" and I am a little concerned about the temperature control during the ramping up and down. I'm brewing a batch of about 50 gallons. What is the recommended placement of the temperature probe? Tape it to the...
