Need help filtering 20 gal of beer

in reality, you don't necessarily have to go from the filter into a corny. you can go back into a 30 gallon bucket and then rack the beer into 4 cornies. One less corny, but one extra bucket...

    Keezer Temp Control? Inkwell maybe?

I stole a basic 3 1/2 inch fan off an old PC, and i'm in florida, so i've given no thought to ever needing a heater. I posted a pic of the build in the Keezer section.

    Keezer Temp Control? Inkwell maybe?

it works great. had some big temp swings in the beginning, but then i put the probe in a container of water on the hump of the chest freezer and it holds steady. Definately had to add a fan inside freezer to circulate air. I was getting frozen carboys on the bottom and a 40 degree reading at the...

Somebody call Coastal Living and put me on the cover

Finally got through most of my keezer build this last weekend. I decided to put the tower over some storage on the end of the sears 8.8 cubic ft, that way the lid is accessible.

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil

I'm trying to love the M&B, and it will be my vessel for the near future, but biggest issue i'm having is that it's a 7.5 gal capacity. realistically 6.5 gal is as much as you can push for the boil with hop additions in order not to get a boil over. I want to collect 6 gallons in my carboy to...

    Lactic Acid Yeast(LAY)

let us know when they're looking for citizen volunteers to do a pre-release to the public. I'd love to give it a try, and i'm sure many sour fans on here would as well. edit: I signed up for notifications on their website, not sure if they're into dealing directly with public, or they're more...

    Using more batch sparge water

I'm on a biab system with the williams mash and boil electric kettle. there's no sparging for me, just squeezing.

    Using more batch sparge water

well, i guess that doesn't account for the expected boil off the 5L, so say 4.5L added during cooling to end up with the same amount of wort ready to pitch.

    Using more batch sparge water

What if that 5L was added after the boil to help with the cooling process and to accomodate a 7.5gal electric boil kettle. would the gravity still end up back at 1.060?

What? They make Beers sour now?

Morrey- What kind of flavor profile does the sour from L Plantarum give to the beer. I've tried souring by adding a few ounces of Lactic Acid from my LHBS, and while it soured it, it felt very artificial and thin, none of the complexities I would hope for in a regular sour. Though I'm trying...

    Lactic Acid Yeast(LAY)

Are these used as adjunct yeasts, or as the primary yeast for the duration? Sounds like a nice avenue, especially with the growing popularity of sour/tart beers. What kind of fermentation temps are they running with?

What? They make Beers sour now?

if anyone is looking for a very drinkable sour, try Bell's Oarsman- currently my favorite sour. Also New Belgian Snapshot was great, but I think it was a limited release and it's gone now. At least gone from my local stores. I think this summers crop of beer will be moving away from the lemon...

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil

I also did my second brew today with the M&B and was also introduced to the lovely E4 error code. Unfortunately I had to run my daughter to softball practice as the temp after mash was hitting 189 on it's way to a boil. I figured 15 minutes wouldn't hurt. I came home to a boil over and E4 code...

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil

Got mine in yesterday and brewed the first batch last night. Everything worked fine and as expected for an electric system. I used a biab in the grain bucket- started with 6.5 gallons, and topped up to seven before the boil after pulling the grain. The boil was vigorous, only wish it was a...

Best all grain brewing equipment to start with?

I have had a great time using BIAB. I bought the pulley- and have never used it. I hold the bag of grain up and the wifey squeezes it for a minute or so. I'm in a 10 G pot and just use a racking tube to get it over to my carboy after my immersion cooler has done it's job. I didn't see...
