American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Doing this again tomorrow. But using 3 oz of Galaxy and using BRY 97 yeast. Thought this would be a good grain base to try a new hop for me and yeast. Thanks to Matt at my LHBS for the hookup.

    Opening a LHBS in Wyoming!

Good luck for spreading some brew cheer with a new store and bringing other brewers their supplies. I know I can buy for a few dollars cheaper online, but my local shop is 5 minutes from me. Friendly and knowledgeable and I make a point to support small local businesses. My LHBS last week...

    Non-refrigerated Corny kegging

    1. Nope. Carb rates differ slightly with temp, but your fine. 2. Yes. And a keg won't blow up if ou use too much sugar. 3. I prefer ball lock. Cheaper too. 4. 10# and get two. One as a spare/backup.

    Remote Hop Growing

Places like Great Hops offer fall hop crowns. They are trimmed down plants with established roots. I used them this spring and was amazed at my first year yield. I planted several types to see what grew well here in SC. Now I'm going to order and plant more chinook, cascade and Perle as they...

    Expensive beer you homebrew

Being on the east coast and hearing everyone talk about Piney from Russian River, I brewed that. With a large grain bill and a ton of hops and hop extract, its the most expensive brew yet.

It's gonna rain, should I brew??

With the rare oppurtunities I get around the house to brew - rain, 110 degrees or snow does not stop me. I once started setting up to brew and it snowed 6 inches, brought the pot out and did my best IPA in a BIAB.

    Huge hop assault IIPA help

+1 Add or substitute out the Citra at flame out for Chinook. Nice piney aroma that will go well with the Simcoe and Citra. I just brewed a Simcoe IPA and put an oz of Chinook in at flame out just for that reason.

Should I cut the plants down or let them hang out until the end?

I transplanted a few this spring to a new area in the backyard. It ended up being too shady and the plants hit about 7' and stopped. I cut them down about 2 weeks ago and new bines have already popped up. Just keep watering like any other plant or your grass. Too much water can rot the roots...

    Fermenting Hot

Each strain strain has an ideal temp range. I try to hit it in the middle if not a few degrees below the middle. My Ales recently have been bubbling away at 64 to 66 degrees. They finish quick, clear and with less funky flavors. Before I was upper 70s inside the house here in SC. I brew...

    Fermenting Hot

I was in the same boat being in South Carolina. Watched Craigslist a got a large wine bottle cooler. I can now control fermentation from 74 degrees down to 43 degrees and anywhere in between. Can hold a temp with in 2 degrees. It has made the biggest improvement to my brewing. Since then I...

    Rolling Garbage Can Beer Dispenser

I know it's been done before, but I had to do it. The family business is selling garbage trucks and for the last 53 years, its been a blast. Hence the username "garbageman" For the last convention we attended we brought out a new weapon. A crowd pleaser for sure. We lined them up and dispensed...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I just brewed this for the 4th time for the wife. This time she gave me 2 lbs of fresh picked blueberries to add after the gravity drop a little. Should be good.

US Law: 100 Gallons of Homebrew Per Year - Fines?

Well I must say the wife and I enjoyed our 199.6 gallons of homebrew in the calendar year of 2011. Log that whoever. Oh, and the extra grain I bought was used for birdseed, the yeast I made bread with and the hops was for moth control in the closet.

    kegging bottling a few

I have never messed with carb drops or tabs. Side by side is one method taste and present better then the other? Bottling of keg post carb vs natural with tabs.
