Was your intercourse with brewers who were on a level similar to your interests of keeping it simple a hinderance to your pursuit of more advanced brewing techniques?

water from a irrigation meter .. with galvanized pipe used

Wow ... M1k3 ... recycled water! I'm in South Carolina. My irrigation metered water rate is about half the price of my house water .. going through the sewer system. I mentioned that it was pure .. which is probably the wrong way to describe my water, but it is as clean as my house water ...

water from a irrigation meter .. with galvanized pipe used

The water is pure .. the irrigation meter is right at the street next to my house meter .. and it's the same water that comes into my house. I don't have any irrigation installed .. just 6 spigots at various locations around the yard. The only drawback I see .. is the use of galvanized pipe...

water from a irrigation meter .. with galvanized pipe used

I have a question about using water from a residential irrigation meter for brewing. I wasn't brewing at the time this system was installed and wasn't even thinking of brewing. I do know that at the in-ground meter and back flow preventer that the first piece of the system installed by the city...

need info on medical O2 regulators

I just received a 60CF steel nitrogen cylinder from Scott. It is as tall as my 20# CO2 cylinder. I will swap it out at the local Airgas place for an O2 cylinder. I will just be paying for the fill price. I plan on getting a medical regulator .. that will attach to the connection on a welding...

    Greetings from Upstate South Carolina

BrewdogSC .. Did you know the guy at the Beacon .. who called out the orders passed away. He had a fall or some sort of accident and died of complications. I have never eaten there .. but the place is legendary .. and was featured on that "triple D" .. food network show. The host of the show...

What do I need to upgrade to all grain?

I think if I was starting from scratch ... and was looking for maybe ball valves and a 10 gallon SS kettle .. I would at least step up a notch and purchase 3 pieces SS ball valves. I know they say you can also take apart the the 2 piece valves .. I have never been able to get mine to come apart...

    ghetto brew setups?...

I think that the term "ghetto rigs" .. can also refer to "redneck .. or hillbilly rigs .. too". Part of the appeal of homebrewing is adapting "what you have .. to get the job done". I present the Aldi Clam Chowder soup can ball valve heat shield. I am showing my heat shield attached to my mash...

    Milk crates

I've have several heavy duty "real" ... plastic milk crates that are from the grocery store. One crate will hold 16 ... 22oz bottles. The bottles stick out over the top of the crate by about 1". I am not sure how many 12oz bottles will fit in the milk crate. I no longer bottle .. and haven't...

I have a plastic conical that I bought about 15 years ago. I have never used it .. cause I have a stainless 12.5 gallon conical too. I bought the plastic one first .. then went ahead with the stainless purchase. The problem was that plastic was always going to wear out .. get scratched .. or...

I have a 5 gallon orange Rubbermaid water cooler (which is usually used as a pre-chiller) and a 10 gallon orange (from the orange BigBox HD home improvement store with their stamp on the cooler) .. that is also made by Rubbermaid. What is the best method of aerating?

How about the kitchen small appliance "hand blender" .. or the .. from the BigBox .. attach to your drill "paint stirrer". I've used the hand blender and think it produced good results. I also splash my wort ... pouring from a stock pot .. into my fermenter. I am thinking of trying the (#3...

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

Looks like rotary screen printing mesh. It's like screen printing tee shirts .. except this is for high quality printed consumer product labels. The mesh is much tighter than tee shirt printing mesh. The ink is pumped into the cylinder .. and squeezed out. That's pretty tight .. I'm not sure you...

    Pressurized removable keg lid

I was looking at your keg .. with the hole cut in the top. I have a early model stainless steel 12.5 gallon fermenter .. with the cross bar .. wing nut and metal plate for hold the lid on the top of the fermenter. It looks like you could do something sort of like that with your keg. I would...
