    Insulating a keg

I did THIS Home depot sells a fire proof insulation similar to the mineral wool (I forget the name of it ) and it's a little easier to work with. The only problem is it's $60.00 per batt, which is wayyy more than you'll ever need. Edit....This is it only $40.00...

    Help!

If you had an air lock your question would be.....It's not bubbling, is it done?...lol Kit instructions are vague, at best. I would forgo the secondary and just leave it in the primary for 3-weeks and bottle it. It sounds like your already at terminal gravity, but the yeast will continue to...

Kegging will be the death of me

It should.....I ran out of my summer supply of home brew a month ago. I have 10 gallons ready for this week end,so I was just cleaning my lines etc, and I have as much gas in the bottle as I did a month ago. I never shut the tank off but I do have a valve going to each keg that I did shut...

Kegging will be the death of me

Some tanks use an O ring where it connects to the regulator. They tend to leak.....Use a washer instead.

    US05 ideal temp

Fermentation can raise the beer temp. by 5-10 degrees, so with an ambient temp of 65, the beer will be 70-75 Degrees. Too warm..

How does continuous fly sparging work using a HERMS coil?

Also, just maintain an inch or two of water above your grain bed.

Losing 8 liters evaporation during boil?

It sounds like a lot. I lose 1.9 gallons per hour on a rolling boil. It's best to measure your boil off for future reference. If you don't have a measuring stick, now would be a good time to make one. Take a measuring cup and start filling your boil kettle and make marks on a stick of some...

Is it possible to dry hop once already kegged?

What I do (I'm sure I read it here somewhere) is put the hops in a 1 gallon paint strainer and tie it with a piece of dental floss, (enough to have it suspend about half way down the keg) and throw it in. You can tie the other end around a post so it won't slip down. (it won't leak around the...

    Single tier mash efficiency problems

30 minutes is definitely not long enough. Also make sure you maintain a couple inches over water over the grain bed.

    Pump outlet leaking at valve

Make sure the fitting isn't cracked. Sometimes there a hairline crack is hard to see.

    Gypsum Or Lactic Acid?

Instead of teaspoons etc...I suggest going to the local pharmacy and get a dosage syringe... they're in MLs. and wayyyyy more accurate. I only need to use (when I need it at all) 1 or 2 MLs for a whole 10 gallon batch........ EXAMPLE

    Using Pumps / Whirlpools

I made a hop spider out of a 5 gal. paint strainer for my 10 gal. system years ago and it is one of the best additions I've made!
